With three weeks remaining in the schedule there are five AFC teams fighting for 2 spots. There remaining schedule is as follows: Jacksonville (8-5) : @Ten, NE, @KC Cinn (8-5): @Ind, @Den, Pit Jets (7-6): @Min, @Mia, Oak KC (7-6): @SD, @Oak, Jac Den (7-6): @Ari, Cin, SF The way I see it Cinn is in as the 5 seed. That leaves 4 teams for the 6 seed. How do you see the season finishing for everyone involved. I think that Jac will finish 1-2, KC will finish 2-1, and Den will finish 2-1. The Jets I cannot pin a finish on for this reason. If the Jets win today I think they win out and regain their confidence. If they lose today I feel the Jets will lose again next week and possibly lose out. In other words Jets win today I feel the Jets win the 6th seed. Jets lose today and I say who ever wins the TIE between KC, DEN, and JAC will win the 6th seed. Let me know what you guys think. Please note: I wasn't sure if this should go in the Jets forum or the NFL forum so if I picked the wrong one I aplogize. Also I didn't see this exact thread already created so I am sorry if I missed it.
Bengals schedule is pretty tough. Giving them the 5th seed so quick is wrong I believe. I see the Colts winning on Monday Night.
so basicly you are saying that who ever has the best record and wins the tiebreaker is gonna be the sixth seed, right? I agree..
Even if Cin does lose to IND I tihnk they beat DEN and Pit which makes the 10-6 and since the 6th seed is 9-7 they still get in.
Updated: Cinn (8-5): @Ind, @Den, Pit Den (8-6): Cin, SF Jacksonville (8-6) : NE, @KC Jets (8-6): @Mia, Oak KC (7-6): @SD, @Oak, Jac Let's see some scenarios. Cincy has 3 very tough games, INCLUDING the pittsburgh game. I think they'll lose tomorrow and against Pittsburgh with it all on the line. 9-7 Cincy beating Denver will make them 9-7 JAX will lose to NE, beat KC 9-7 KC will lose tonight and lose to JAX, 8-8 This means if we win out, we're #5. If we lose 1, we miss out due to conference record to CIN. Just my predictions. It actually got a little tougher today because DEN won and KC is likely to lose.... but in this years NFL, it's impossible to predict what willhappen next week. I have a gut feeling if we win on Christmas night, we'll control our destiny.
I haven't figured it out for myself and I didn't read anything at nfl.com yet, so I'll ask here. Have Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Tennessee been eliminated? Is it possible for any of those teams to finish 9-7 and slip into the playoffs? (Later tonight I'll go over every possible scenario and post it somewhere, if I have time.)
I think (well, hope) that the 2 WC's will be us and Cincy. Cincy: @ IND (L), @ DEN (W), vs PIT (W) - 10-6 NYJ: @ MIA (W), vs OAK (W) - 10-6 DEN: vs CIN (L), vs SF (W) - 9-7 JAX: vs NE (W), @ KC (L) - 9-7 KC: @ SD (L), @ OAK (W), vs JAX (W) - 9-7
Thanks. Yeah, I thought they were. JetsIn2004 didn't include those teams above, so that's what threw me off. It's unlikely any of those three would slip in, but at least they are all mathematically alive. Week 16 will kill one of them when Tennessee goes to Buffalo.
Just the fact we are having this conversation is a miracle according to all the pre season experts even most Jet fans..We are playing meaningful football in LATE Dec..what a difference a coach makes
Dont count out Pitt whos well in the hunt when they VISIT Cincy. They always play them tough, and have come out on top since 04(Including a playoff win). Pitt helped us in 04-05 by taking care of Buffalo the final week, they may pull through for us yet again.
The Cincy game tomorrow is the key. If Cincy loses it puts the Jets MUCH closer to a play off spot. Assuming the Jets win out: If Cincy loses tomorrow, then all the Jets would need would be a NE victory over Jax. If NE loses to Jax then Jets win division with NE loss or gets wildcard with Jax loss, or loss by either Denver or Cincinatti
