I am normally not one to complain about the Refs and there were so many other reasons why we lost that game, but this was absolute bullshit. Here is a picture of where Allen was called off sides on the kick-off that resulted in a second kick-off that led to the kick return:
No, the refs gave the Fins a second opportunity. The Jets special teams gave up a TD and cost us the game. the ref making a bad call on one play doesn't absolve the Jets for playing poorly the next play.
AA said he wasn't offside but Westhoff said yes he was offside on post game show, said he taught players to trail kicker
And as I posted, I'm not saying that's the ONLY reason we lost that game. The special teams gave up a TD because on two reasons: 1. The kick was now further up than it would have been normally which in turn requires the defense to run a longer distance before contacting the return team. 2. The team was exhausted after stopping a guy who ran 150 yards in total to gain 15. That call screwed us
There were a bunch of shitty calls going both ways. Refs were inspired by the teams they were watching.
That angle appears deceiving. If you were looking straight down the line, it does appear his leg could be over the line already. And ball hasn't been kicked. So, offsides.
Again, no they did not. The referees cost the Jets 5 yards with the questionable offsides call. The Jets then blew the game themselves by letting Miami return the kick for a TD with ease. Go and actually make a tackle and no one even remembers the offsides call today.
Jets special teams lost this game plain and simple - it's misleading to blame one player , Allen, for the resulting TD off the off-sides calll. All 11 has to be made accountable.
The personal fouls cost us a win @miami. As bad as fitz was on 5 or 6 plays this game was lost by the defense mainly because of stupidity and lack of discipline.
I was praying for Folk to kick it out of the endzone because of the exhaustion and he couldn't or didn't want to. Another time a single player cannot make a big play for us to win a game.
I hate the refs in principle and this crew was BAAAAD. That said, they are not the reason why we lost. If we were talking about a tight well played game between to evenly match opponent, everyone gives their best, makes no mistakes and a game is decided on some BS call (like catch / no catch) ... I'd subscribe to "ref's fault". This was not it. This was a team that played like crap hoping that the ref wouldn't screw something.
the refs didn't give up the return. it's not like it was a bad call that agve them 1st and goal form the 1. all it did was rekick 5 yards further away. No way we should have allowed that
It's really a shame. Special teams are still really bad and costing the Jets games, just like the last few years. It really hasn't been the same since Weatherford, Brad Smith and then Westhoff left. Sure punting has improved this year, but overall they have been hot trash and it's nothing new. I can't blame the refs for that even though they were terrible as usual. The Jets had that game right where they wanted, and literally on the next play they give the lead right back to the phins. It was pathetic, same ol Jets. I don't want to see J Marsh returning any more kicks. Leave that for Spiller. Marshall is better off sticking to receiving and I think he had his best game yesterday as a WR. Also before that penalty I forgot that Antonio Allen was still on the team.
If the refs did anything, they did their part in getting the beard off the field and helping us get a better draft pick. If Bowles had a brain he would start helping with the first one.
Let's not forget the refs brought back a punt return for a TD with a block in the back which may or may not have mattered. The common factor in both -- our special teams gave up TD's.
Eight TD's given up by ST in only 25 games under Bowles. EIGHT. Completely ABSURD. I bet there are teams in this league who haven't given up 8 ST TDs in 8 years.
thats crazy bad!!! Just for fun I looked up the Patriots and I had to go back to December 16th, 2007 when David Bowens of the Jets recovered a blocked punt for a score to get the 8th special teams TD against NE. by my calculations that is 138 games. 2 (2007) + 16x (x=8...2008-2015) + 8 (2016) = 138
