It will all be too perfect. Th Falcons getting Abraham, Jimmy Williams, and signing a veteran OT. I don?t think I will be able to contain the joy. Personnally I think the Jets should bow down to the superior team (the Falcons) and give us what we want and take whatever garbage we are willing to give in exchange. Failing that they should at least do the fair thing and let Abraham go somewhere he could be happy. They?ve already hijacked his career for the past two seasons, with no compensation. How ruthless can these jerks be.

The way I see it is Atlanta has the inside track because Abraham wants to play in Atlanta?play home games in a dome, play close to his home as opposed to playing in an outdoor stadium in the rain (Seattle). Jets really don?t want to keep him just sitting around making 8.5 million and being a distraction for the team and Seattle is also pursuing Julian Peterson for their defense..I think eventually Atlanta and NY come to terms on a deal and hopefully soon. Abraham will be a huge plus for our defense!

I agree, the Jets know they can?t keep him and are stuck in limbo. Basically as long as Atlanta doesn?t have to give up the 15thpick nor Schaub they?ve fleeced the Jets regardless of what they may have to give up in this deal.

All of you make good points, but I have to agree with those who say don?t give up the 15th pick. I think that?s extremely high for a DE - even a DE as good as Abraham. Heck, the Dolphins got Culpepper for a second round pick.

However, the Falcons should up the ante. I would be willing to give up a second round pick this year and a fourth next year. I think that will be enough to sway the Jets.

The other thing is, how do these idiots actually believe that somehow, some way, John Abraham is going to get what he wants? Do you think that Tangini actually gives a rat's ass about where John Abraham wants to play? Pfft. Please. I hope we get maximum value, I don't care who it's from. Jets are in TOTAL Control -- they own the rights to abe. Period. EOS.

    love the avy

yeah alot of these people are so off base..........do they really think theyd find a better player with the 15th pick then Abraham? a proven elite pass rusher.

not to mention they all harp on the South Carolina BS like we care if hes happy.

theyd be better off sharing sippy cups with Ron after his latest outbreak

gives a whole new meaning to the term Dirty Birds

WHY NOT CHANGE YOUR STADIUM TO VALTREX FIELD?

If Seattle is out of the running for Abe, which I would have to believe is the case after giving Peterson all that money than all that leverage we had just shifted over to the Falcs. Our FO is gonna have to decide, do they keep an unhappy player that could be a major distraction for a first year HC our do they take the best offer on the table and part ways. IMO they take the best offer which might end up only being a 2nd round pick.

This is interesting. Every fan sees things through their own filter of loyalties. I do agree with the Atlanta fans in one regard. I think it's likely that the trade will eventually go through, but that Atlanta will have to raise its offer. The Jets will likely accept a deal without this year's first or Schaub. One likely possibility is this year's 2d & 3rd. Anther possibility is this year's second and next year's second.

Seattle still wants Abe ... Peterson is a LB ... Abe a DE. And why should the Jets just settle for less than they deem reasonable?

If only one team is now in the running to get Abe, our compensation return package can go down dramatically. Peterson signing with Seattle will hurt, as they haven't agreed with Abe on a long term deal and will only shell out so much more money this off season.

You may be right but I find it hard to believe that after giving Peterson some 18 mil in garauntees they are gonna go out and give a player that doesn't want to play for them the same amount.. I'm not saying they should settle for less, I just think eventually they will if Seattle is out of the mix..

Right now, there's only ATL and SEA interested. As draft day approaches and Abe continues to sit there, other teams will look to put together a package.

Perhaps ATL should be looking to make a trade with SEA for their 1st round picks and then send that to the Jets. ATL's gonna have to be more creative then simply sending us other lower round selections.

Honestly, I don't see how anyone could be THAT upset with being franchised. That's guaranteed MILLIONS. No compensation? What are these guys smoking? Also, and it's unfortunate, but it's not really up to Abe where he plays. Yeah, it would be nice if he could play near his home, and I'm a big Carolina guy, but it's gonna be up to the Jets. If the Falcons don't give us fair compensation, then he's just gonna have to take a cross country plane trip to visit the relatives.

Then again, these are likely people that also root for the Atlanta Braves so you're talking about people that are probably mentally deranged to begin with!

That would be my approach as well, however Abe doesn't have to agree to the trade. If that was the case where we could just package him and send this clown own his merry way, then we could do that way before the draft. Also, its not just about packaging and trading him to another team. Its going to take big bucks to sign Abe. This is the reason we only just a hand full of suitors.

Hence, at the beggining of the draft most, if not all, funds will be spent for FA players. I know there won't be $18mil to sign Abe.

The hope is that some GM with a spotty track record will cover his ass and give away the first pick for a proven commodity. If I was a GM, it would be a no-brainer. Why take the chance when you can use the pick to get a proven commodity that everyone will laud? You don't know what you're getting in the draft; could be a Dwight Freeney or could be a Bryan Thomas.

Losing out on Hutchinson freed up a lot of money for Seattle, so they have the money for Abe, and to me one of the reasons why Abe is happy with Atl is because they have the money already figured out, if Seattle figures out the money part and offers him more he will change his stance
