This guy looks so slick back there I'm very surprised. If we don't keep him, someone will pick him up immediately.

He'll be the #3 as of right now. #2 is next if Clemens has the outing he did tonight again. The kid looks a lot more comfortable the Clemens does.

Wade made mistakes, Ratliff has been shown amazing awareness this entire preseason and in practice.

Ratliff won the game with 1:04 left in the game, but Raymond dropped it. I think he's not overhyped.

Mangini's an idiot for not letting Ratliff try to win the game. Oh well, preseason

no coach is ever an idiot for a tactical decision in a preseason game.

It's way too early to say that he's the future. Looking impressive among players who won't be in the league in a couple of weeks means really nothing. One thing I noticed on at least a couple of plays is that he telegraphs his throws and locks up on one receiver. As soon as he took the snap, I saw who his primary target was on those two plays.

this is a really good point.

I'd like to see Ainge get a ton of playing time in another preseason game. If we're gonna cut someone we used a fifth round pick on, lets make sure he really is worthless.

Good points Petro but what I liked was his decisiveness and ability to thread the needle. Looking off the secondary can be coached, confidence and ability to make tough throws under pressure can't.

I posted this at the game day thread...my assessment on ratliff..

    Amazingly strong arm
    Big
    A vocal leader

    and most importantly hes showing...

    Smart decision making and poise

that right there has the "it" factor

I think Mel Kiper would say Ratliff has the "wow" and "it" factor.

He's our #2 now for sure after the way clemens played tonight. And I'm confident he can be the starter next year or the year after (whenever favre retires).

If Mangini has half a fucking brain, Ratliff is the #2 tomorrow. Seriously he's already way better than KC.

Not so much "wow" yet, but definitely more "it" than Clemens. I wouldn't exactly crown him the QB of the future yet, but he should be the #2 of now.
