    Raiders: Moss gives up

Wide receiver Randy Moss appears unlikely to play in the final game of the season for the Raiders when they take on the Jets this week. The Star-Ledger out of New Jersey reported on Thursday that the word from Oakland was that Moss had packed it up for the season. Moss is questionable on the injury report this week because of an ankle injury.

We have two very good receivers. Why would we want Randy Moss?

I think it's safe to say that the career of Randy Moss is a complete disaster, and entirely of his own making.

I wouldn't try very hard if I was on Oakland either, what's the point? Believe me, this guy would change completely with Chad in the same locker room, and Mangini coaching him. Talented people like Moss need a leader and a purpose in order to achieve their full potential. The Jets would give him that.

Is it really worth a draft pick to find out if you're wrong?

I am not in favor of bringing Moss here, but it wouldn't cost a very high draft pick.

    3rd rounder at best.

And that, my friend, is still way too high. I don't want to trade away a no-day player for a first-day player.

    He's worth a 3rd rounder. No higher.

Depends. He's worth a 6th rounder, but I'm kinda expecting the Raiders to cut him so we can get him in FA for a cheap price. I don't want Moss if he's going to cost a lot, both to get and also against the salary cap.

i take it youve never played any organized sports. theres a reason you play 110% every game...its call competition and pride. sportsmanship.

you wouldnt see anyone with a desire to win, or the fire to compete lay down in a game no matter what the record is.

wasnt he supposed to "change" with a new place to play when minny traded him to oakland? hes a bum, plain and simple. any athlete worth their salt doesnt make the team or the games about him. hes a disgrace to sports...its easy to play hard when youre winning, but it takes heart and determination to play hard when youre losing. he wouldnt change for anyone because he is the most important thing to him...and in sports that just doesnt cut it.

i dont want moss here. hes become a cancer. he fell far in the draft (for a guy with his ability) because he lacks character. even the team that took him, and that he said he would run through walls for because he wanted to show every team that passed on him what they passed up couldnt deal with his selfishness.

randy extinguished his own flame by being randy. and oakland, or every other team in the NFL can have him. i wouldnt and dont. hes every bit as bad a TO...

I played in HS, I was the leader (QB). I had WRs just like Moss, extremely talented, but if I'm not playing, they won't play either (I got injured once, and I saw the difference, hell, they'd sit next to me on the bench and fake an injury). Chad is a leader, plain and simple. The players will play when he's there, so it simply is not a problem. The guys that are like this can get away with it because they're so much more talented than everyone else. Vince Carter pulled the same trick, but when playing with Kidd the guy gives it his all.

Honestly, it's really impossible to play every play and every game with the same intensity. Playoffs and big games are different. Even outside of that, there are just games where you won't have it. Nobody, not even Chad, plays with full intensity every game. As long as you bring it more often than not you are fine. Moss is just publicised more because he made it obvious, but every player on any level of play knows that's true.

Aren't you one of the same guys saying get rid of Chad?

I'll pass on Randy "headcase" Moss. Someone is paying you to do a job (and paying well mind you), well you damn well better show up to do it. He doesn't. Everyone thinks they can "cure" him. It just isn't going to happen. Waste of time.

Are we sure he's sitting because he wants to? It's quite possible that Oakland has chosen to sit him for the last game to avoid injury. As of the other day Minnesota was in negotiations to bring him back via trade.

It's fully possible that they have decided to make the deal, knowing Randy isn't happy (can you honestly blame him?) Sure, you should want to play every game, and I don't respect his attitude this year, but it could be out of his hands.

I don't know and I don't really care. I wanted Moss before this year, but with the emergence of Cotch, the resumed great play of Coles, and even JMac playing better, we have zero need of him.
