I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to the awesomeness that is Randy Lange. I hadn't heard of him before he got the editor-in-chief job at newyorkjets.com, but he is a great writer. His articles are fun to read, and almost always have a clever pun in the title. He often uses interesting statistical information to support his arguments, and even takes some of his own stats which the NFL does not. An example that comes to mind is an article he put on the site a few months ago, where he did a side by side stat of Curtis' and Thomas Jones' first season with the Jets. They were extremely similar (aside from the TD count), and even had Jones out-performing Curtis in some areas. Randy's articles, like this one, really help to put thing in the "big picture" perspective, whereas the typical Jets articles are reactionary. Do you guys enjoy reading his articles on the site as much as I do? Cheers
Interesting that Chad's under throws were conspicuously absent from Lange's official team summary. An agenda maybe???
Lange also answers his e-mails himself, which I really appreciated. I think he can shed a lot of light on the background of what happens, and I'm looking forward to his work this summer and during the season as well.
Yes, he has an agenda to turn all the world's people into Jets fans. Did the sarcasm translate properly? it sometimes doesn't online... But you're wrong that he ignored Chad's struggles. From "J-Co, Safeties Make Some Plays at OTA..: Pennington, with the twos, hit David Clowney on a deep sideline pass but then had a few overthrows before coming back with the J-Co connection." So he pointed out overthrows instead of underthrows...is dwelling on that really going to matter a few weeks down the road as long as Pennington doesn't continue to struggle? ~~~KeepC&K: PM me his e-mail, plz
Randy was great at the Bergen record(I think that's where he was) but the articles at the official site are all fluff pieces.
