Some of you may remember me starting a thread about the NFL's "force-out" rule a couple weeks ago. I was interested because of research into an article I was writing. Well, here it is, published Tuesday morning on Deadspin. Comments? Thoughts? https://deadspin.com/deadspin-fixes-nba-s-out-of-bounds-rule-reward-the-def-1846720737
They'll never do it because they constantly want more offense even if the game is ugly to watch from a shot jacking and foul perspective. @JackBower is the resident big basketball fan. Your thoughts?
Im really not on board with that. You're taking away one of the few effort/hustle plays in the game. If player jumps out of bounds and saves a possession, it can effect the momentum of the game. And just smacking a pass or a shot out of bounds shouldn't award the defensive team with a possession. This is like if you foul 3 times in baseball you're out, it's silly to me. Im all for pushing the 3pt line back, and also slightly expanding the restricted zone in the paint.
