Hey guys, after reading the post today I saw under "goners" for the rebuilding the Giants article there was R.W. there. I mean I can't say I know too much about him, but I'm sure if he's going to be cut by the Giants he won't be too expensive. thoughts?
He has been around awhile. Started with the Niners before ever playing with the Giants. Seems his best days were left at Candlestick.
R.W. would not be an answer for the 2CB. He could be good depth, but the old CB on our team would have to be gone first...
Depth and nothing more. He's safe (won't fumble) as a return man, but that's about it. He can be solid depth as a #4. That's pretty much all you'll get out of him. He should be cheap though.
Ahmad Carroll is still a prospect that I like. He is cheap and greatful for a job, best of all there was a reason he was a 1st round pick and it might pay off to have him around.
That's my thought.... I have nightmares of Leon blowing his knee out on a punt return. I'm ok on kicks but punts scare the hell out of me.
Yeah, it's a double-edged sword with him. His value as a KR is second to none, which changes the entire game, but there's always that risk... I think we should keep looking towards the draft to get more CB depth.
Carroll at this point is essentially a younger McQuarters that isn't as good a return man. McQ can also play any position in the secondary, so that's something to consider. I think he would be a decent dimeback, but not much more.
Carroll is a walking yellow flag. Get him away from this team. If it wasn't him it was ihedigbo causing a penalty.
Frankly, McQuarters is no better than David Barrett. He's not even that good of a punt returner. The Jets have plenty of nickel and dime-backs on the roster; what they need is a good #2, not a depth player.
