This is from a NY Daily News article, which was about supposed bad blood between Belichik and Mangini:

Belichick is cold and cunning, qualities that have enabled him to become one of the best coaches in history. If you?re not with him, you?re against him, and he now sees Mangini has the enemy. It sounds crazy, I know, but it?s a cut-throat business. As Bill Parcells says, ?Coaching isn?t for the well-adjusted.?

Of course BB sees Mangini as the enemy. And if Mangini doesn't approach BB in the game in the same fashion, that will be a problem. It's business, Mangini said so in the interview that Sundayjack posted. All of this nonsense about bad blood between the two is a fabrication of the press.

They of course will not be overtly congratulatory to each other through the press, because they both view the press as the enemy. And of course their relationship will change as dictated by the fact that they are both very aggressive HCs of division rival teams. This is not the soap opera that the literaturds are selling you.

Immediately after the Jets hired Mangini he returned to Gillette and was shocked to see that Belichick changed his access code and he couldn't get into the building. There were TV crews there at the time and EM looked shocked and confused as he was looking around for a way to get in.

    I thought this was amusing.

Mangini and Belichick, Awkward Meeting #1

Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe notes from a New York Post report that things might have gotten ugly in the last days of Eric Mangini's tenure with the Patriots. Writes Ryan:

The Post printed yesterday what others have only been whispering; namely, an assertion that Coach Bill was so angry about Mangini taking the Jets job (as opposed to, say, the Green Bay job) that when Mangini and his assistant, Erin O'Brien, returned to Foxborough after a trip to New York, they found that their access codes to the building had been changed. The newspaper also alleged that the Patriots still are withholding some boxes of Mangini's belongings.
Typically, I don't read the Post, because I am not a big fan of Mark Cannizarro's work which means I don't like reading OpEd disguised as news or Yellow Journalism, but wow, nice stuff! This is like a bad-break up! I have this vision of a voice message left for Belichick from Mangini asking his "ex" for his things back.

"Hi Bill? It's me, Eric, I know things aren't going so well, but ... but I just wanted to come over some time soon and get some of my things ... um ... like that old Wesleyan sweatshirt you borrowed of mine. What is your deal with sweatshirts? Sorry, and maybe those mixtapes I made for you ... and of course my Ozzy albums. I mean, playing Crazy Train before home games was MY idea and all ... it's just that I want them back. Oh ... also Julie [Mangini's wife] wanted that pan that she sent those brownies to the team in the other week ... you see, it was part of a whole set ... OK, this is getting awkward, OK, I should run."

OK, probably not, but I am sure though that when Mangini goes back to Foxborough later in the year, all his belongings will have been thrown out of a second story window onto the street for him to retrieve.

It seems, hell hath no fury like a Belichick scorned.
