Man, how quickly everyone caves on this team. Do you realize that as "BAD" as everyone thinks the team is, and how this QB or that QB should be in and blah, blah, blah. Think of this: We are a FG (Nugent's miss vs. Buf) and a dropped pass (Baltimore game J-Mac and Coles) from being a 3-1 team! I am not claiming that we are going to win the division, or even make the playoffs, but contrary to belief this team IS better than it's 1-3 record. Honestly, if the previously mentioned events had occurred and we enter this week at 3-1 playing the Giants...who would still be complaining about all the issues and giving up on the season?
We're not a Nugent FG and Jmac TD from being 3-1. We would still have to play overtime in both those games. The TD chances at the end of the Baltimore game would never have happened if Chad were playing. The Nugent miss should not have been an issue against a team we should have beat by 14+ points.
Good points - however, in each of your scenarios we would have only tied the games. We may not have won either game and still be at 1-3. I don't think the Jets are as bad as the record indicates, but I don't think we're a good team either at this point. A spark is definitely needed.
He has a point This team is not that bad. You can blame chad all you want but any quarterback in the nfl who's coach calls the exact same sideline pass three or four plays in a row is likely to throw a pick in that situation. Chad is not a top tier quarterback but he is better than a lot of starters. Teams with quarterbacks like Chad have gone far before (Carolina - delholome) (Baltimore dilfer, old man mcnair) (Washington - brunell). Chad is still at fault for making horrid passes and I think clemens is the future. The issue is we still have some serious talent however it is becoming apparent that we aren't using it correctly. How many of you guys trade our roster for Buffalo's. I doubt there are any takers. There is no excuse for a team as talented as us losing to Buffalo even with a missed field goal or bad pass that game should have been won by at least six points. I think we need Mangini to get a handle on the situation and steer us in the right direction hopefully he can. To anyone who disagrees with me please point out what part of the game if any was coached well? Maybe I'm wrong but thats how I feel about it.
from what i've seen so far this season, there is not much of a difference talent wise between the two. i don't know what team you have been watching, but it can't be the same team i've seen!!!!!!!!
I want to watch the game on Sunday and at least enjoy watching one single player. So far it'd be Leon or Baker for me but even that is questionable. I would prefer we win all games but would settle for just some sign of life on our team. Sadly, I'm getting the most enjoyment out of trying to watch our lines.
To me, It's a double edged sword.... On one hand, we KNEW this team was a long way away from truly competing for an Sb, let alone a divison title. You add that in w/ a brutal schedule this year...and these are the results.. However, on the other hand... This past offseason was handled horibly. We had plenty of money to spend in FA and completely shunned its existence. Meanwhile our biggest competition added major pieces to a resurgence that appears unstoppable at this point. You add on top of that the fact that we've been "waiting till next year" for going on 40 years, w/ plenty of misery/heartbreak along the way...and of COURSE this type of start is gonna create alot of panic buttons..
They have looked terrible in 3 out of 4 games this season. And that one game against Miami, they completely caved in the 4th quarter. That we were only a FG and a dropped pass away from perhaps being 3-1 is a sad statement to the quality of play in the league right now. We'd easily be the worst 3-1 team in years. This team is not very good right now, really no two ways around it.
every time and i mean every single time i want to complain i think back to one thing, my herm must go t shirt that i purchased from this website. i really cant complain when i think about how bad it WAS, granted its getting ugly now but not nearly as ugly as it was then.
my favorite thing about herm was definately his post game press conferences!!! we might see re-runs on the comedy chanel!!
I come here to complain ....I go to the games or my local bar to cheer on my team....no matter what their record might be
arguing your opinion, and finding that we can all be wrong is good. its natural to complain about our team and its downfalls. agree? to argue means you can learn something you didnt previously know, its no different than being in a bar with a rival. dish some out, and take it when youre wrong...its all good
i agree bruner, i tend to like to argue, even against my actual thoughts just to help me make better decisions about my own stance. it creates thought which creates reflection which creates better decisions and stances. just as long as it doesnt get personal or rude, at that point there is no point.
how true alleycat! i do not get personal until the person who hates my view, gets personal. if they are having fun, i guess that leaves the door open both ways? i love a funny comeback, even when i get roasted. wit and humor are best together.
True, to go against my OP, we are also an ugly onside kick away from potentially being 0-4 as well. That was not the point of the post though. I know that there was more work to be done in each of those games, however, just like recent years the Jets have been in almost every game and it always seems to come down to just 1 play or so.
Thats the problem with this team, they never can take control of a game from the 1st qtr to the last. All of these posts this last week, it comes down to we never should of been 1-3, especially with no injuries. We will be talking about the same shit next week, because this team is to nice, don't want to hurt anyone's feeling.
no, a 3-1 team would have made that catch and FG. the fact that the Jets blew both is the very indicator that this team is as good as its record indicates: 1-3. by you rlogic, every bad team could say we are 1 block, 1 tackle, 1 catch from being a good team. the difference is the teams that are good actually make those plays and the bad ones don't. the Jets haven't, thus the Jets are a bad team.
That's pretty much my angle. All the coulda/shoulda/wouldas are what they are, excuses. We're 1-3 because we stink. New Orleans got the couldas, some of the wouldas, but missed the shoulda in the playoffs last year. Now we're starting to see that maybe there's a reason they didn't. The reason there's so much complaining is because we were all given the impression of a 3-year plan. We're a quarter of the way through year two, and we look as bad as we did before the plan was put on the table. When you lose winnable games, which Buffalo was, you're going to hear it, and deservedly so.
