Again, nothing for me to add. Click on the YouTube link directly. I would love to watch a game with him. He's speaking where my mind is going...
Pretty much every Jet fan's end season rant. Look, this whole season can be summed up by the implosion of Zach Wilson. We can rake Saleh all we want but we know he isn't going anywhere. He will be back, and he and JD have one task to do for the off season: fix the QB situation. The OL is easier, because we have decent players who just need to come back from their injuries, and the draft.
This guy basically channels my thoughts on Saleh, he's just more willing to give him another year. The most important thing he mentioned, is my biggest criticism of JD, that JD just allows Saleh to keep doing the same thing, and keeps his hands off & just supports his decisions. And that's what Saleh does with the rest of his CS. I think this organization, from top down, is just a bunch of air. It seems their whole organizational philosophy is to make an assessment, then run with whatever their plan is, whether it works or not. Then at season-end make another assessment. End of last season, they assessed the team, then just went with it throughout this season. When challenges arose, just keep doing the same thing until the end of the season (now), so they can make another assessment, & follow that until their next assessment next January. When I heard JD yesterday, say that he fully supports Saleh, and all coaching decisions are Saleh's alone, he lost me. This whole organization needs to be jettisoned into the ether. Everything is on the players to play well, with no support from the organization, other than trying to find other players to replace injured players. In-season/pre-game/in-game adjustments forget about it... just follow the plan/process, & hope other teams don't notice. The only change that's gonna happen, is whoever they bring in to help MLF. Otherwise, next season's gonna be a mirror of this one, except some new players will be thrown into the mix. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but with what Saleh & JD said yesterday, it sounds like we're all gonna be disappointed again next season. It's the process they're married to, not winning. .
Meh. It Is what It Is. None of us liked It. None of us wanted It. For me.. I went Into this season assuming we were going to be better but not great. Turns out, we were a little better than I expected. Especially on defense. This doesn't feel like SOJ to me, this feels different. The defense Is where It needs to be. The offense needs a major lift to get close to our defense's big step up this year. I think they will bring In a veteran offensive coach, I think we will upgrade our offense. I'm worried about the QB situation but I got to trust they will figure It out. I'm not interested In complaining at this point, It happened. I got faith going Into year 3. This dudes rant Is a bit much but I'm not here to preach to any NYJ fan. I get It. Everyone changed their expectations, It happens. We weren't as good as people like this guy thinks we were. We weren't. It's not unacceptable, It makes sense. Oh, well. We literally only lost to one non-playoff team. The Patriots. Who we lost to twice. Every other team we lost to, are In the playoffs. I just think Jets fans should take a breath and step away from the ledge. To each their own though.
Yeah when talking specifics it’s very frustrating for a few key reasons: 1. Zach looks to be a colossal bust…he has some raw talent but he’s been terrible and hasn’t improved…not even a little bit 2. OL looks like another disaster three years into JDs tenure 3. The trend is going the wrong way…we started strong and fizzled when it started to matter, as opposed to starting poorly and improving as the season went on but if you take a step back and look at the big picture, this was improvement in year two of this rebuild with Saleh…I don’t count JDs first year with Gase as that wasn’t the “build year”… but the defense for sure improved, the team has some strong young talent, and is poised for a playoff run going into year three, which was probably the plan all along. but next year HAS to be a playoff year…
Thanks for posting this, @Cman65. Everything he said is exactly how I feel. He gets it. He is a true Jets fan who has been through a lot. It is really frustrating. They have taken one of the most sunshiniest fans in myself, and turned me into a dark sider. Not quite to your level, but getting there! I see no reason for optimism with this coaching staff and QB situation. He said it best: The expectations will be playoffs in 2023, and I don't know if this team can live up to that. In fact, I would bet they won't. And to me, 2022 was a huge failure. Zach Wilson went from a potential franchise QB, to not good enough to wear a jersey on Sunday's. That is unacceptable. They lost their final 6 games. Brutal. It was awful.
Video is pretty spot on. -Six straight losses when you're in the playoff hunt is unacceptable. -Three straight games without scoring a touchdown is unacceptable. -Mishandling the quarterback situation repeatedly is unacceptable. -Letting players wear t-shirts celebrating the backup qb is unacceptable. -Letting players wear costumes in the middle of a playoff run is unacceptable. -Leaving a qb with 5 broken ribs to play in a meaningless game is unacceptable. Yet Woody Johnson and Joe Douglas are willing to accept all that failure... and more. That is why we are a losing team.
The more I see, the more it jells... I really wonder if this team could ever be a consistent winner, with Johnson family ownership. Everyone has this "it's not my job" attitude... and it's "hands-off" on their underlings. Team loses 7 of 8, after being 6-3. The team didn't show up for the two most important games of the season, Jags & Seahawks. Miss the playoffs. His #2 pick vaporizes. Woody: Let's make no changes... the team is in good hands. JD sees the same collapse... His #2 pick vaporizes. Saleh didn't fill Knapp's position after his death. "I love Saleh... any CS decisions are up to him." Saleh sees the same collapse... His #2 pick vaporizes... no TDS, no running game, no offense, with 3 different QBs. "I can't blame MLF... in retrospect probably should've filled Knapp's position." MLF sees the same collapse. His offense goes totally impotent. His developmental QB project vaporizes. "In retrospect, probably should've sat Zach at the outset." I have no problem with coaches/management making mistakes, we're all human. But these people seem so in it, over their heads. There's too much blind-leading-the-blind going on in Jetslandistan. There is absolutely no accountability for anything/anyone, within this organization, including the players. Players have temper tantrums on the field... ok. Quit on routes... ok. T-shirts, costumes, etc... ok. And as fans, we're told to trust them to get it right... again. Woody's gonna speak to the media this week... can't wait. .
Wish this guy was the Owner ..calling the GM and saleh in on the carpet Personally ? they all should FIRED 365 days in advance cause you and I know how next NYJ season will prob end up
