Question: Why do people think Sanchez developed because of Shotty and not in spite of

I don't know the behinds the scene stuff but from an outsiders perspective it seems Shotty has treated Sanchez like the Yankees have treated Joba. He comes in after starting 16 games his whole life then Shotty gives him some absurdly complex playbook. Then he decides that it's too complicated so he dumbs it down to a schoolyard. Then Sanchez is all confused so they come up with a color-coded arm band like he's in nursery school (which Sanchez handles well besides for how much the Jets wanted to tell the whole world about it). Then they seemed to find a healthy balance in the playoff run.

Then he starts off this season and he treats Sanchez like Peyton Manning with his audibles. I remember one play in the first quarter of the Ravens game he spent 30 seconds rearranging the whole offense. Then Sanchez looked like a deer in headlghts because he was so afraid of an interceptiion. Jets scored 9 points. Then all this season. 40 throws one game, then "back to basics". Then another 40 passes. The "ground and pound" with LT (won't get into that) etc etc.

So just curious why everyone calls Shotty a QB genius. Also, isn't Cavanaugh, the QB coach extremely highly reagrded? It seems like he would be most responsible for his basic development. People seem to give him credit from Rivers (number one draft pick) and the ultra-talented Brees) so not sure how that went down.

Obviously, Shotty's playcalling has been discussed in detail elsewhere so I won't get into that. Greene 9 carries, Smith 0 carries, Holmes 2 catches, Edwards 3 catches. Enough said.

Who knows. Schitty sucked last night, no he wasn't the only one but he left a massive reeking pile of piss in the middle of the bed. And beyond that, his offenses have never been consistent or dangerous in all his years with this team. Sadly, I have a feeling he'll be back unless some idiot organization hires him away. Someone give Al Davis a call

Unless I'm mistaken, Brian Schottenheimer has a track record as a good QB coach no? He worked with Brees and Rivers in SD before he came here. Now calling plays is different then working with a QB. You have no idea about the meetings Schottenheimer has with Sanchez behind closed doors. Sanchez made a huge progression from year 1 to year 2. He's not making as many boneheaded decisions, he's going through his reads better and he's clutch in the fourth quarter. If you think the offensive coordinator had NOTHING to do with that then well..
