http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/12/eagles-interested-in-laron-landry/ Simply put: Damn it
On the positive side it's good only one team is reportedly interested so far. It would suck to lose Revis and Landry in the same offseason definitely would be a big blow to our secondary.
I was really hoping for late interest with the injury concerns. I knew it was coming, but still hoping.
Landry is gonna draw interest from multiple teams. Even if Eagles drop out, he's still likely to get multiple offers which place him outside the Jets reach. It sucks but this is the price Jets pay for being so sloppy with their payroll.
It's already a forgone conclusion to me that Landry won't be back so this doesn't bother me. In fact I'm happy a team out of conference is interested rather than AFC or an AFCE team.
Losing Landry would be a mistake. If we are going to deal Revis, and it looks like we are, we are going to need strong safety play.
Still can't afford him just because we need strong safety play. Trading Revis costs us $3M this year. Landry isn't coming back. And not for nothing, while Landry is a great player he's not a cover safety so he wouldn't help the coverage situation in losing Revis. If anything one could argue that we need a player that is better playing mid field in coverage than a head hunter type.
I don't know why people keep saying this. If we trade him he will save us $6 Million. He will be designated as a June 1 player, and the $9 Million will hit next year. Also, the chances of someone trading for Revis without a structure of a new contract is foolish.
If we do try and resign him, I hope they don't overpay for him. We got Josh Bush and Antonio Allen in the previous draft, let the young bucks go at it along with more competition as well.

these websites do not include all options available, as it is all lumped together. http://overthecap.com/explaining-the-june-1st-designation/
The cap can be hard to understand sometimes. Just when I think I have a good handle on it a new wrinkle emerges.
I haven't looked it up, but I don't see the difference. Edit: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Dead-money-disasters.html ReEdit: http://nfllabor.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/collective-bargaining-agreement-2011-2020.pdf
