good idea. IMO, we need to add depth/youth/bodies. we don't have many draft picks in this years draft, which according to many, is deep with WR,DL,OL.
I think it would be in our best interest to add more 2 - 4 rounders, and get ourselves, younger/faster/deeper, at our need positions.

Do you think other Gm's aren't also saying "we should trade down". The only way (and this is for the first round only) we may get a team to trade up is if McFadden or Gholston are still available otherwise we will be picking in the 6th spot.

This is the same BS, that was posted on this board about 1000 times over the last few weeks. Without any realistic scenario (who would trade up for which player) this is not evens specualtion, just flat out BS.

How could this have been said here 1000 times over the last few weeks?

Hutchinson said "Remember you heard it here first, the Jets trade down if McFadden is off the board."

It amazes me that some writers think they are the only one to think of some things.

The Jets will trade up, not down.

still think a trade down is our best bet. try to nab Sweed, and then with our 2 second rounders try to get Dre Moore and Cliff Avril...

Did you read my post? Most people here would be for trading down (especially if DMC is gone) but most people here also realize, that the chance is very small to find a tradepartner.

When you talk about trading down, you should come up with a good point about who will trade up to #6 for what player.

Yeah, this subject has been beaten to death and German pretty much covered it. Unless there really is a case for a team to trade up and take the likes of Gholston or DMC, or maybe even Ellis/Dorsey/Ryan, then I think everyone would be all for it.

However, one thing I don't agree with, is trading UP. Anything higher than the rumored Oakland trade (where switch spots and we send them Kenyon Coleman straight up, or with Kansas City) would cost the Jets waaaay too much. I would welcome a trade down in order to re-gain a few 1st's and a 2nd or early 3rd in a Draft where QB's, HB's, WR's, and DL are a plenty in the early rounds.

If McFadden, Gholston, and the Longs are gone, I'm sure they'd love to move down. Even if McFadden is there, they might. I doubt anyone wants to trade up, so we're probably stuck at 6, but if they can trade down, I'm sure they'd like to. No way do we trade up unless some team wants to get ripped off, and even then, I'd be shocked.

I guess I really would come down on more draft picks instead of McFadden at No. 6 would be better value for the NYJ.

But I would have a hard time passing up Gholston. Tony Dungy made a great point a couple of days ago, when he said he would pass up any CB to get a good OL or DL because these good guys on the front & front 7 are so hard to find and they have a much larger impact on the game.

It's time the NYJ became winners at the line of scrimmage.

Even with Woody saying we are not in win now mode, and that Mangini and Tann will be back no matter what, you still think they trade up?

I think that would be the least likely option at this point.

    My Prediction:

The Jets do somethign on draft day. Half of us cheer it, the other half bitch. Situation normal at TTG.

people make it sound so easy to trade down

Tannenbaum: would you like to trade up?
    Other Gm: Sure
Tannenbaum: Good cuz were really screwed with this pick.

It doesnt happen like that, there are about 25 teams that want to trade down and about 2 or 3 if your lucky that want to trade up

Do you really think Chatman will prevent the Jets from taking McFadden if he was available? They may not take McFadden for other reasons, but Chatman wont be even be in that conversation.

More unlikely than the trade down scenario...

Ellis or Dorsey might be attractive to Denver in that spot

I still say are biggest needs are Cb and a tall WR. Neither is right for the 6th pick so I feel the Jet would love to move down to a spot where they could pick one of these positions. Unless they love Gholston. Umm... thinking about it, if Thomas does not bounce back we could be in trouble without a someone to replace him so its Gholston or move down.

I don't think the Jets have 6th-pick necessary glaring hole. They do need more bodies all over the roster, and they certainly need day 1 picks to address a few needs.

I'd say they trade down - as this has been beaten to death more than enough, I think the needs are: CB/SS/ILB/WR, along with a few bodies in OL and DL.
