Is this guy going to be a player or is he just another poor Bradway mistake? What a joke! The guy couldn't beat out Lance Legree....
Well.. Lance Legree just got released and Pouha didn't. So. in essence, I think Pouha got the better end of the deal. No? He'll be a player. Mangini will make him a player. I have a feeling alot of these no-names we have are going to amount to something under Mangina's leadership. Just a feeling though.
I agree. Now that Herm is out of here, some of these players are actually going to get a chance to prove themselves. No more having to deal with loyalty to older players. The best players should be on the field, period.
Give the guy a chance. DT's develop slower than others and rarely make an impact their rookie season. Everyone is quick to draft another DT early but chances are he won't contribute right away and we may have someone who can in Pouha already if we give him a chance.
He was drafted, Legree was not. You put a lot of stock in Mangini being able to coach up a defensive lineman...... He retained Denny Marcin, the same DL coach Pouha had last year.
I say wait and see. Pouha has raw talent. With good coaching, who knows what he can do? At least I'd like him to back up Ngata at NT!
Another wasted draft pick? One thing Bradway did do well was draft, we had more then a few good draft years with Bradyway. Minus BT he's done a hell of a job.
He won't play 4 years longer than a typical DT if that's what you're getting at.....I know it's not.....just because there is no "football" wear on him doesn't mean he is in the same shape as a normal 2nd year player. He's 26, they are 23.
Even if he does turn out to suck there is no reason to get on Bradway about that. I do not expect every player Bradway or for any GM to draft a star or even a starter especially that late in the draft. Its just stupid to complain about him not picking up a starter in the 3rd round.
People sure are impatient. Pouha was labeled as a project.... does anyone know what that means? It means he needs a year or two to develop. Bradway and Edwards KNEW that when they drafted him. As I've said many times before..... Pouha does not yet have the technique down to have his brute strength and size translate onto an NFL field yet.... he can't rely on sheer power anymore, the way he could in college. He doesn't keep his feet far apart, and takes steps that are too long, making it easier to get him off balance. NT's need a wide stance, and have to take short, choppy steps to hold groung when double teamed. He also doesn't use his arms properly to keep O linemen off his body. Once he gets the techniques down to the point where they are automatic, they come naturally without having to concentrate on it, he will improve remarkably. I am hoping that Cox gets Pouha as a special assignment.... from my many visits to camp marshmellow last year, I saw Pouha get no extra attention. With good coaching, I think he can be pretty good.
I can't wait for TC to open up again this year. It's a 3-hour round trip for me but I really got a kick out of it. Gonna miss bumping into Wayne in the Colliseum Deli though...
Why did we draft a project at DT when our roster/payroll was developed with a win now point of view? Pouhe was a poor pick, end of story, draft a 25 yr old project, he'll be able to play by the time he's ready to retire...garbage!
