Guys, throw out some names of undrafted rookies who can be picked up by our team. Any nose tackles or O-lineman out there with some diamond-in-the-rough potential?
Echols, Quintin 6-1 328 NT Strengths: Has excellent bulk and mass...Very strong and powerful...Does a real nice job of shedding blocks...Is able to take on multiple blockers...Instinctive and aware...He plays with good leverage...Moves well for a big man...May still have some upside. Weaknesses: Shorter than you would prefer...Is not much of a pass rusher and does not get a lot of penetration...Stamina and conditioning are major concerns...His work ethic is questionable...Was not overly productive...Only a situational guy in the pros? Notes: Could be a 3-4 nose tackle or a run stuffing specialist in a 4-3...An intriguing guy due to his size and triangle numbers...Does he have those intangibles needed to maximize that potential?...A developmental prospect who could possibly surprise.
Tim Duckworth 6-3 304 OG Strengths: Has good size and a solid frame...Very strong and powerful with a excellent initial punch...Tough and physical...Excellent run blocker who gets a great push...Stout at the point...Plays with a nasty demeanor and a killer instinct...Plays better than he works out...Good motor and intangibles...Still improving and has some upside. Weaknesses: Is not much of an athlete and looks stiff / tight...Quickness, balance and mobility are only average at best...Plays too high at times...Instincts and awareness are questionable...Doesn't have great footwork...Raw and still learning the position. Notes: Began his career as a defensive tackle and did not make a move to offense until 2004...A much better run than pass blocker at this time...Was overshadowed by Marcus McNeill and Ben Grubbs at times but he's a solid prospect in his own right
Now we look forward to UDFA's making the team. This is totally a Badway draft. Daherm days ain't over.
Rhema McKnight 6-1 211 WR Notre Dame Strengths: Good size and a solid frame...Naturally athletic...More quick than fast...Has strong and reliable hands...Good body control and ball skills...Great blocker who gives an excellent effort...Good route runner...Tough and works across the middle...Smart and a hard worker with top intangibles...Productive...Had a big senior campaign. Weaknesses: Concentration will lapse at times...Does not offer any value as a return man...Has some health and durability concerns...Timed speed is adequate but certainly not special...Needs to keep his weight in check...Could improve his conditioning and strength...Benefited from never really being the focal point of defenses attention. Notes: One of the most prolific receivers in Fightin' Irish history...Missed most of the 2005 season and redshirted after tearing his right ACL...The type who does everything well but nothing great...Not quite the pro prospect that Maurice Stovall was last year...Projects as a nice #2 or #3 target at the next level and a solid contributor.
i agree rhema mcknight walter thomas darius walker although we have leon washington darius walker is a great rb who can compliment tjones incase leon goes down
Mkristo Bruce, Travarious Bain, Darius Walker, Matt Trannon, Johnny Harline, Antwaan Applewhite, and I wouldn't mind bringing in a QB like Moore, Zabransky or Palko.
I'm trying to remember who this QB was at the combine that was throwing to the receivers. He only played like one and a half seasons since the starter was thrown out of school. His throws were perfect every time, and not a single quarterback actually attending the combine came close.
Gary Russell, running back He did play at Minnesota with Laurence Maroney and Marion Barber III. One was better than the next just like the Miami triumvirate of Clinton Portis, Frank Gore (who I believed at the time and still believe is the best one), and Willis McGahee. There really was no dropoff whatsoever when Russell was on the field. I feel he's the best player who went undrafted. The problem is he did not play at Minnesota in 2006. He became academically ineligible. Apparently, he was a quick learner when it came to football, but didn't perform in his classes. Whether this would be a problem or not for the Jets, who knows. If Russell got in trouble with the law ever, then screw it. The Jets won't bother. But if it's just the academic crap, who cares. The guy wouldn't be joining the Jets to be a salary cap guru or to work in the public relations department. He'd be here to play football and by all accounts he was not a dummy when it came to understanding what he had to do on the field and it showed when he played.
2005, Minnesota backfield: Maroney- 281 carries, 1464 yards, 5.2 avg, 10 TDs Russell- 186 carries, 1130 yards, 6.1 avg, 18 TDs Maroney- 17 rec, 170 yards, 10.0 avg, 1 TD Russell- 16 carries, 168 yards, 10.5 avg, 1 TD
how about chris leak out of florida and rhema mcknight and jeff smardgzia (if he isnt going to baseball) out of notre dame
Leak cannot play. He's simply not an NFL QB. McKnight is worth consideration. Samardzija cannot play due to his contract with the Cubbies.
A couple: - David Ball - Earl Everett - Tim Duckworth - Jackie Battle - Danny Ware - Mkristo Bruce - Jon Abbate - Rhema Mcknight - Nate Harris - Matt Trannon - Travarous Bain - Juwan Simpson - Cory Anderson - Walter Thomas - Germaine Race
