Not to be picky but Coples is a LB now

  4. Based on the scrimmage,This could be one of the most unique great pass rushes in a long time. Every single play someone broke through a double team & was in the QBs face as the ball was released. Coples,Wilkerson,Ellis & Richardson..One of them made a play.

OL wasn't playing badly either. These guys are just so athletic out of their stance they are in the QB's face within 2-3 movements.

Add to that Rex's scheming and it could be a ton of fun watching this defense this year.
Oh, sorry forgot we are supposed to suck this year and no one should fear us. Just look at the Jets as an easy win and take two weeks to prepare for the game that you play after a victory over the Jets. ;-)

this is the one unit taht i think everyone is expecting something big from. i think they have a really good chance to be unique. hopefully the guys who havent really produced yet will do what we think they can.

matt i put him here because he will play both as i understand and had done some work as an olb.

This is the one unit I'm excited about. While we should have a good set of cornerbacks, the defensive line has a chance to be scary. These are four freak athletes we're throwing out there. They're all so young, so I don't want to get too hyped about them for this season, but those guys with Rex coaching them is scary. And I like Harrison, too.

If the division is our best way to the playoffs, then you have to look at New England. Brady doesn't like pressure in his face. We've beaten him with that before. When the defensive line can create pressure on its own, the entire defense reaps the benefits.

He's 6'4" - 350 lbs and gets very good push every time I've seen him in action (mostly preseason). They spent a year developing the guy. I'd be very surprised if he didn't make the final roster.

  10. UDFA in 2nd yr out of William Penn. Huge guy at 6'4 350. Showed a lot of promise last preseason/TC & got some meaningful playing time late in the regular season.

Not much of an athlete but fills a lot of space, gets a very good initial push & can anchor. Has a lot of upside as a stout short yardage/goalline situational 2 gapper in the Gilbert Brown mold.

Isn't as athletic or dynamic as Kenric Ellis, but maybe a better anchor. Possibly could be used as a change of pace if Ellis starts to wear down on long drives or is struggling w/ his anchoring.

Harrison reminds me a lot of Pouha. Not as good yet obviously but just a huge space filler that anchors the middle and isn't moved easily.

I hope that hybrid DL/LB thing with Coples works out.

This guy is a huge NT/DT & holds point of attack. He just needs more playing time & experience. One of few Jets "diamonds in the roughs".

This is another Jets solid unit. They can only get better here....barring injuries.

Between Douzable, Finau, Coleman, and Aumavae, someone has a good shot making the team as backup base 3-4 DE.

For what's it worth, Douzable saw a few snaps with some of the 1's against the Lions.
Of course if they only decide to keep 5 DL plus Coples, than its possible you could see Garay convert to DE, and Richardson as backup NT.
