Word is Jets rookie CB Drew Coleman has earned a starting position over Justin Miller, a second-round pick in the 2005 draft, because Coleman is more dependable as a tackler and in coverage. We hear the team values Miller as a kick returner, but that may not be enough for him to keep his roster spot in 2007. http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/Whispers/2006/whispers2117.htm
miller's talent on KO is such that you have to find a way to keep him on the roster -- unless he is a veritable cancer. He's good depth in the secondary, and still young. If I were Mangini I'd be trying him out for Safety, RB, anywhere. In one KO return yesterday he totalled more yardage than the entire rushing endeavor for the entire team, all day...
i think we keep him as a KR man and 3 or 4 CB he is developing he is just not doing so great. people had him as the jets 1 cb this off-season i think he can be a solid 3 or maybe 2.
this same post is made every week... "drew coleman is starting over justin miller" ... however, it seems like miller always plays more
More ominously. Barlow doesn't like being Leon's sidekick and wants to be "The Man". Hmmm... For once, PFW makes sense with the Houston option over the more expensive Barlow. Unless Kevan shows us something in the Deuce Staley class of running, Barlow becomes a rental and is gone by '07.
No way you get rid of a 3rd year cb, who has proved he is the best ko retrurner in the league this season. He played ok yesterday, made a good play on the pass to kellen winslow.
Oh, brother. Maybe if Barlow showed that he could get more than just 3 yards a carry, he wouldn't have found himself as the "sidekick". Washington worked his way up the roster by outplaying his peers. Barlow hasn't done anything but play like a slow turd, yet he thinks he's owed the starting job? Screw that.
rb hmmmm..... but anyway he has to stay, i love his attitude and the way he plays. it would suck to see him go.
I think I remember alot of fans on this board who thought Justin miller was the better CB than F washington and Stanford Routh. Right now it looks like Al Davis was right again. Justin miller and Pac man Jones are two of the most exciting returners in the game. Both need alot more consistancy as CBs.
^You also said Andre Dyson would get burned constantly and he'd be a weakness at CB, the worst CB in the NFL?. He's played very well, manning up to top WR's and covers the left side good for a guy with his size... So Miller has not panned out yet, and Fabian Washington looks to be okay...Still not enough to make a judgement since it's only their 2nd season.
YEa the Jets are ranked where on defense. Just because teams aren't picking on Dyson , dosen't mean he good. Might be they are finding more easy places to go with football. (there has to be a reason why Miller was benched) F washingston hasn't been just okay. Hes been outstanding. Lets see if that stays true in the next couple years.
The Jets are a bad defense, no kidding. But Dyson has been thrown at this year and he's succeeded very well after he was a guy who "is constantly burnt and you all are in for a rude awakening." Dyson has been the best free agent pickup for the Jets and has outshined Ty Law this year and made his departure alot easier. Dyson is a good CB. Fabian is outstanding...Yeah, let's send him to the Pro-Bowl. He's above average, outstanding is the great Corners in this league. But of course, Fabian deserves to be in the same sentence as C. Bailey who runs a 4.28754875, C. McAlister who runs a 4.35897432489, in fact...Since Fabian ran a 4.27487458, he's better than those 2 guys. You're usually wrong with your predictions, and everything in Raider land is bright after being the worst team in football the last 3 seasons, and being 2-5 now, but hey, Raiders to the Superbowl in 07'. I'm just saying Dyson has been an excellent addition to the Jets and he's only 27 after you said he'd be a huge weak point.
Outside OF Colts and patriots(who didn't have any wrs at the time) you really having faced any offense powerhouses.(capable QBs) Have You honestly. So lets hold off on Dyson talk right now. F Washington very good right now, get better ever game, and he continues to do that, could be up there with elite CBs. At least hes a major contributor, and not riding the pine on one of the worst defenses in the league. That my friend is better than jets (J miller) who supposedly was the better cb . Thats what I heard after the draft.
Oh oh so now it's because the Jets haven't faced in "capable QBs." You never mentioned that before? It was all Dyson gets constantly burnt and is one of the worst Corners, so shouldn't ANY QB be able to pick on him easily with their best receiver? I have no problem holding off on the Dyson talk now...YOU'RE the one who said we'd be in for a rude awakening because he constantly gets burnt...Just going by what you say.
Not as much as I once did. hard to argue for your team, as their team has owned you recently. Like I said with youngest team on both sides of ball. Raiders run is coming again and its going to be alot longer than last time.
Everytime I have seen dyson playing the Raiders. Raiders have unmerciful pick on him.(Raiders have seen him alot) Expect to see that later in the year too. Raiders have alot of top tier talent at skill positions. Yet they have the worst offense in football. Now would you say the reason for that is opposing cbs or fact the Raiders Oline has been horrible and they are breaking in a young inexperience QB. Comeon man, you know better than that to say any Qb should be able to pick a bad CB with their top Wr.
Watching all the games, Dyson HAS been thrown at quite a bit this year despite not even a decent RCB...Dyson has done good on his side, now, he has been burned a few times this year, most notably the Chad Jackson and Roy Williams' touchdowns on him...But it's not as if teams are throwing at Miller or Coleman 95% of the time...Dyson gets thrown at plenty throughout a game, and to my surprise, he has done very well, that's my entire point. He's got 3 picks, 5 batted balls and 35 tackles, not bad at all. I'm willing to admit I was wrong on saying Justin Miller would be better than Fabian, at least right now, for all this "young and youth" stuff being thrown around, Miller is only 22. But I didn't think Washington would be anything, and he's done well, while Miller has been slow in developing. You, on the other hand, just refuse to admit when you're wrong in any scenario over anything...But hey, shiiiiiiiit happens.
Yeah, because those teams are head and shoulders better than the Raiders. You come here because the Jets are an easier mark for you. And yet the Jets are still better than the Raiders. As for your second sentence, what team are you talking about? EDIT: He may be saying he is too cowardly to post on DEN or SD boards because the Raiders have struggled against those teams lately. Or he's talking about the Jets sucking against the Patriots of late. R joe 5'8" 240 6.72 40 does have a habit of jumping around and quickly changing the subject to the Jets when Raiders talk gets rough. Coming from you it means zilch. Your predictions are some of the very worst I have ever seen.
