REPORT: FAVRE DOESN?T LIKE PLAYING FOR MANGINI
Posted by Mike Florio on December 28, 2008, 12:11 p.m.

Apart from a nagging shoulder injury that has gotten worse over the past few weeks, a major factor that will influence whether quarterback Brett Favre will return to the Jets in 2009 is whether and to what extent he?s happy.

Per FOX?s Jay Glazer, Favre isn?t happy playing for coach Eric Mangini.

The problem? In Green Bay, Favre had his own set of rules. In New York, Favre is treated like everyone else.

He regularly is called to the ?principal?s office? to answer questions about the basis for Favre?s in-game decisions. Also, Mangini has called Favre out in front of the team.

So if Favre plays next year, it apparently won?t be for the Jets.

    Can't say Im surprised.

And seriously, who are the coaches to question Brett Favre when he leads the league in interceptions? He's Brett Favre, he throws the ball real real far, let him do his thing.

In all honesty, this is the vibe ive been getting off the guy for a while now, he doesn't seem like he really gives a shit. If things were going well he'd happily ride into the playoffs with a smile on his face, but he's not going to be the guy to work hard to make it happen.

    The blame goes to BOTH!

    Favre for throwing the INTs
The coaches for even bringing him here instead of starting Kellen clemens or Brett ratliff.

Makes sense. Mangini is a piece of shit. I wouldn't want to play for him either. Regardless of INT's this year, who gets the benefit of the doubt, HOF Favre or that fat piece of shit Mangini?:

I don't like watching Mangini coaching, so I agree with Farve.

One more reason to hope Mangini stays, which he will.

i could see not liking playing for mangini because the gameplans have sucked. but not liking it because he is held accountable for his screw ups is pretty lame.

Well, there seems to be two problems here:

    a) The Jets aren't treating Favre like the prima donna he wants to be, which they shouldn't
    b) Mangini is a horrible coach, and can't inspire his quarterback/team

both should be fixed next year.

Favre not only hates his coach, he hates the city as well. The guy is smart. He found the sucker Jets to pay him big money for little effort and return on his part. Not only that, but he gets to get the hell out of New York early, since the Jets ain't making the playoffs.

This season was a win-win for Favre and a no-win for the Jets organization. That's what happens when you have mentally deficient types running the house.

Eh my worst fear may happen in four hours :p (Pats winning the division, Jets and Chad both out)

The hell with Favre, he hasn't earned the right to dictate to anyone this season.

If for no other reason, I hope the Jets keep Mangini so Favre retires. Give us our cap room back you stupid, self-centered f*ck! The Favre trade has to be the biggest blemish on Tannenbaum's career.

Why would anybody "like" playing for Mangini? He's a total asshole who knows less about football than a high school coach.

This expierment came back and blew up in the Jets face. Favre will be out of here at the end of this season, no doubt.

We may as well brainwash Robert Kraft or someone who has the winning formula in football, and make him owner, so we can just win....

All thats left at this point is the day somebody sticks a microphone in Favre's face after the season and he tells us how he really feels. And therell be no shortage of microphones once this catastrophe winds down later today. This sort of tapdancing bullshit is why I personally didnt want to see Favre here. Even if he had made our team better, the amount of bullshit he brings with him is just not something I have patience for. Shit like this is never part of the solution.

Personally I'm not quite as down on Mangini as some, only because I think its never a good idea to fire a coach based on less than a season of poor play. This has been about as bad a collapse as anything I've seen, and it's hard not to put a lot of that on Mangini's head. But I think it really falls on Favre. He's played like shit, absolute trash, with a lot of talent around him, the coaches threw out a lot of the playbook in favor of doing what he wants to do this year, and he's still not happy. The sense I get is its a result of his own ego, nothing else. I blame Mangini and Tennenbaum for this mess only because they thought it was a good idea to bring this asshole in here in the first place. They throw Pennington under the bus, then make a terrible decision on who to bring in next, plus their second round quarterback doesn't seem to have anybody excited. I dont know if theres a quarterback in the league that these guys can make it work with.

    My reaction exactly.

If the reason he doesn't want to come back is because the coaches call him out in private when he plays badly he can go screw himself.

It falls on Mangini and his coordinators, as much as Favre's poor decisions. Its all about the Egos of these 4 and the rest of the team is kinda left in limbo.
