You have to start somewhere and today Petty gutted out a win. It wasn't pretty but for a 2nd year guy its something to work with. Benn a fan since his Baylor days and I hope he can have some success with the Jets. I can't believe the Jets threw to TE's today.

I'll say this, I've changed my tune as to how I think the season should play out. I was routing for every loss we could get to get a high draft pick (the Raven's win killed me)...But after yesterday, and amidst all of the turmoil and mailing it in performances from the last several weeks, I'm now of the opinion that what this team needs most is a spark and belief in the QB position...I saw a lot of positive vibes from the win (albeit against a terrible 49er team, w/ nothing on the line) and a lot of players looked pretty pumped that the young QB found a way to lead them at the end...

Now, i'm not dumb in that i realize this was one win again against a terrible team and not like Petty set the world on fire...But, I saw some moxie in him, some spirit in him and the team...Some mobility in his game, he can definitely sling it, some play making ability off the cuff...Maybe, that's what this team needs for a bit to bring them all back together...Who knows what Petty will ultimately be, but at this time he's sure as hell a better option that Fitz and might light a spark underneath this team to at least play hard down the stretch and maybe, just maybe build toward something in 2018...That's a mouthful from one win against a lousy team, but let's see where this goes, and again think wins (or at least competitive, hard fought games) may be more important than a couple of draft positions...just a thought

I said it yesterday. I'm not saying he will beat Miami, because their defense has caused plenty of turnovers as of late, but if he can hold his own... I'll be encouraged.

good post. I agree. If he can build off of this and show that he's at least capable of being our starter next season... so be it.

Part of my plan anyway (not that my plan matters at all just saying lol)

Draft 2 lineman.. and a RB to compliment powell, let petty or hack run the QB next year which probably will get us at 5-11 at BEST..

trade up a few spots and draft Sam Darnold in 2018.

Kid's got moxie, stays in there and delivers the ball. Fought for the 2 pt conversion, some good positives yesterday, even though his oline tried to get him killed.
