How much does Peter King hate the Jets? I had no idea until we got Favre. It took Brett becoming a Jet for him to stop blowing Favre on a weekly basis. In his MMQB, no mention of Favre or the Jets, and for his top fifteen, which included many 3-3 and 3-2 teams, we are not even ranked. I love it. Everyone, forget the mediocore Jets and we will sneak up on you and be 5-2 going to Buff!!!

What we have learned is that it's ok for other teams to beat bad teams in close games but not for us. When Buf did it they were ranked in the top 5 but when we do it(and we never trailed in the 4th qtr unlike Buf vs. oak and SL) we stink.

Has there even been ONE game yet that we looked good in, that we dominated? Have we even beat ONE good team? Have we yet put away even ONE bad team before the 5 mintue marke of the 4th quarter?

I think you can't answer yes to any of those, and that being the case, any claim to being in the top fifteen seems like a bit of a stretch. Sorry, I'm with King on this one.

I would call the Arizona game a really good win, I don'[t care that they scored some points in garbage time and Buffalo has yet to beat a good team(the lone good team they played was injury ravaged when they played them and playing terribly at the time) and they were TRAILING in the 4th qtr against BOTH oakland and St. Louis yet 2 weeks ago he had them rated 5th. NE has been smoked TWICE and he has them rated ahead of us now, he has GB ahead of us after they had lost 3 straight games and looked unimpressive against an awful Seattle team, he has 3-3 Chicago ahead of us, he has Ari ahead of us, he has NO ahead of us who is 3-3, ... I don't care where these guys rank us but he is showing clear bias against us. he has made fun of the fans for not showing up to a preseason game, made fun of our cheerleaders unis, made fun of our throwback uni's and now has multiple teams ahead of us that shouldn't be there.

Did you watch the game yesterday?? We owned the Bengals.

  7. I dunno dude....Miami and especially Zona look like tough outs to me. Zona just got a huge win over mighty dallas WITHOUT Anquan Boldin in the line-up(we beat them w/ him). We beat Miami on the road before the wildcat formation..but nonetheless they are a fundamentally sound, smart football team that is always gonna be competitive.

Those look like good wins to me!

You mean the game where we were 20-14 in the 4th quarter against a team that was 0-5 even when they play their (very good) QB, but we were playing their backup QB who was playing in only his second game in his three years as a Bengal, and clearly couldn't run the Bengals offense (the strength of their team) and was handing us great field position all day through turnovers and taking sacks that no experienced QB should ever take?

Yeah, I watched that game. What game did you watch?

Cardinals might've been good yesterday, but it's hard to say they were when we played them, when Warner was gift-wrapping the ball for us like a dozen times. I'm not sure our defense ever stopped them, only Warner stopped them.

Miami, that's a tougher call. I might've been inclined to agree with you 24 hours ago, but in the interim they got beat by the previous winless Texans. And we BARELY escaped there with the win. Did you really think we looked good in that week 1 game? The overwhelming sentiment at the time on this board was that we didn't.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just not going to believe we are a serious contender until, at the very least/earliest, we play and beat the Bills, there's probably nothign that's going to sway me in the interim. I'm not saying we're not a contender, I'm just saying that we can't legitimately claim to be one (or diss any writer for not giving us that respect).

We have been winning ugly, not playing a full 60 minutes and all that, but hey those are the games we usually lose. The problem with your logic is the Colts are # 4 and they only played one decent games, the Cards are # 15 and we beat them and the jags, bears and the Pack have all been erratic and they are all at .500 and we are one game above. We are not great for sure, but we are better then some of those teams. Its his hate for the jets

Pretty sure he gave the Jets props at some point this season. I'm still puzzled as to why people care for his opinion so much, either positively or negatively.

So the pressure that got to Warner and stripped the ball had nothing to do with them playing well? The Jets D played lights out that first half and forced turnovers.

Why can't we ever credit the Jets when they do something good?

I agree with that. Power rankings are pretty useless anyway.

The MMQB is something I have been reading for weeks and his very popular around the NFL and I hate when writers let personal feelings get in the way.

I watched the game where we allowed one offensive TD and one scoring drive only.

Against a back up QB and a team with no running game. Our defense played well and it should have.

Our offense was lackluster against one of the worst running defenses in the NFL. We got very little push and averaged a lowly 3.2 per carry. Our Passing game was off kilter against a banged up secondary whos oldest starter is 24. This should have been the perfect team to take advantage of and we came out flat.

I'm happy that we won, but we were far from "owning" the Bungles.

THe defense was the story of the first half in the Cards game. They played perhaps the best half of football of any D all season. Its a shame that Sutton and Company put them in a shell for the second half.

We won ugly, we never should have allowed so much passing against a scrub like Fitzpatrick.

Maybe I see if differently, but...

That banged up secondary has Leon Hall, who is a good prospect.

Call me crazy, but over the last 4 years, it seems like the jets have been renowned for making back-ups and second string players look like stars. They couldn't even run the ball up field, and Fitzpatrick had probably 3-4 good gaining throws the whole game. It wasn't a virtuoso performance by him, but he only turned the ball over once, compared to Brett who turned it over 3 times.

If Farve doesn't throw those two retarded INTs we probably add at least 3 (possibly 10) points to the board.

I know they were in "striking" distance in the 4th Qtr, but I don't think anyone in the stadium thought they were going to march down the field and score? We were in cruise control since we tied the game early in the 1st quarter.

We've beaten Miami and Arizona, two solid teams. We caught a break not having Palmer play, but who knows what kind of tempo his presence could have dictated. It was a lethargic game, but it was a win, and in this league you HAVE to win ugly. Just ask the redskins, bet you they wished they won ugly.

Well to be honest, the jets got controlled and even dominated by two good teams they played and squeaked one out against Miami. Lots of "experts" were finding ways to detract from the AZ win, as if they didn't even field 11 defenders and essentially just let the Jets continually cross the goal line.
And I simply can't put much stock into yesterday's win. A horrible team with a backup QB. You can't really come away from it thinking that the defense improved. Too tough to gauge them against that team.
Respect will come by continuing to win. GB went through the same thing last year. The first half of the season people kept saying it won't last and they'll start losing. People are just that way about teams unless its Dallas or some other media darling type of team.

Yep, I agree with ya to a point. We won. I'm damn happy we did. I wish we had shown some different things, but am happy with the win.

Add that to losses for the Pats and Phins and all in all it was a good weekend for the Jets.
