"you're only as good as your last game"...."it's all about wins and losses"..."You're only as good as your record shows"...

with these cliches (how do I type an accute accent on the e?) in mind I would like to provide some perspective by listing other teams with a record of 2-2.

    Jaguars
    Chargers
    Packers
    Cardinals
    49'ers
    Falcons
    Saints
    Bears
    Eagles

here are a few teams we have a superior record to:

    Vikings
    Seahawks
    Colts
    Browns

The first point to be made here is that from those 2 groups there is a bunch of tough teams. Teams that many have predicted and many still will predict to make the playoffs and even win their divisions. (I would rate all a chance barring the Falcons and Browns - probably the niners but they aren't actually that terrible this year) I know expectations were high coming in but as others have said, 1-2 was a widely predicted start for us...Brady or no Brady.

I have to admit to being pretty damn angry at some of the media last week, the write-offs the 'I bet he wished he stayed retired', the 'great story but no substance'. As Brett said midweek the Chargers game was a bad game. We played poorly, he played pretty poorly...but then he comes out and does what he did today...something remarkable and completely vintage Favre. As he said after the game we should be excited. It shows this offense has great potential but we shouldn't get carried away with one game. we should enjoy it, I know I will, but not get carried away..just like so many got carried away with a bad loss last week...such is the nature of the media and impatient fans though. Lets not try and make massive overarching judgements after each snap and each game. We're 2-2 and a quarter of the way through the season. There's still a long ride to go and I'm pretty excited about finding out about our team.

The wins/losses isn't important yet. Our form is much worse then quite a few on that list.

Great post man...I really enjoyed it man.

This win was a special win for Jet fans... During the offseason, we went and signed players such as Faneca, Woody, Franks, Richardson - Jenkins, Pace and Favre...Just about every player we signed during the offseason had a really solid game today and Favre was magical. It was just a good feeling knowing that the front office is doing things to help this team win some games. Two players that we drafted...Lowery and Keller also made some plays, overall...This was the best win of the year for this Jets team.

I can see this team @ 6-2 or 5-3 after our 8th game played...Then it's time for a strong playoff push!

I thought the divisional loss to NE was important no matter what we looked like.

Well Arizona clobbered the Dolphins, the Dolphins clobbered New England, the Jets clobbered Arizona, the Jets are better than New England! What's this loss you speak of?

Are you kidding me? You do know that the Jets defense was playing soft because Sutton was playing to protect the lead during the 2nd half...And thats what the Jets defense did...They protected the lead and won the game. How many points did the Cards have during the 1st half, when the Jets defense was actually playing to WIN the game with aggression? How many rushing yards did they have today? They HAD TO THROW THE FOOTBALL because of the score, and thats what the Cards did.

I just dont understand how you can say that our form is "Much worse" than other 2-2 teams.

QB-Favre...One of the best in the game.

RB-Thomas Jones/Leon Washington is one heck of a 1-2 Punch

FB-Richardson is a veteran leader and one of the better run blockers in the game today.

WR-Coles and Cotchery is one hell of a 1-2 Punch

TE-Baker, Franks and Keller can compete with any team in the league. Keller has "Athlete" written all over

O-Line... Ferguson=Potential Franchise LT, Faneca=Beast of a LG, Mangold=Future All Pro Center, the Moore and Woody/RG-RT combo is above average

Lets not forget that we also have players such as Brad Smith and Stuckey who can all make plays for this offense.
    ----------------------------------------------------

We have an up and coming secondary with players such as Rhodes, Revis and Lowery is one hell of a rookie CB

Our D-Line with Ellis and Coleman led by Jenkins...One of the better NT's in the game has been SOLID against the run so far this year

And man oh man do we have some LB's with Pace, Harris, Thomas and Barton...Vernon Gholston will only continue to get better.
    -------------------------------------------------------

Are the Jets the best team in the league? No. But this team has talent thats 2nd to none... I can see this Jets team winning the AFC East this year...After the bye week, look for this Jets team to go on a run.

At 2-2 where still in a very good situation. Where gonna have to stick it to the Bills those 2 times we play them.

You are correct sir. However, to be fair their schedule has been insanely weak so far. The only decent team they have played has been Jacksonville, the combined record of the other part (Oak,STL and Sea) maybe sub .300 by seasons end.

Exactly...The Bills are a solid team.. but they will fall back down to earth before seasons end. Same can be said for the Tittans.

The Bills are by no means unbeatable. They're going to lose 5 or 6 games yet.

Heh, we were actually talking about this very thing in our seats right after the game ended. What I really meant is that form isn't nearly as important at the end of the day.

But twombles, c'mon, what does that really mean that wins/losses aren't important yet? Is that kind of like oxygen isn't necessary? I don't get it.

around a month ago before the season started, there is a thread with what will be the Jets record. Most ppl had the jets at 2-2 at the bye and still winning at least 10 games. The next 5 - 6 games are games the Jets will be favored to win. So no need to panic we could win the superbowl or we could go 2 - 14. I still think we have a very good chance to win the division and if not, deff making the wildcard.
