From cnnsi.com, Tony Pauline article on "movers and shakers" in NFL Draft Combine.... "Jay Cutler continued the momentum he built in January's Senior Bowl. He was accurate during his workout, displaying a live arm and the ability to throw all the passes. Cutler's interviews were another matter as teams were not as impressed during one-on-one sit downs with the Vanderbilt product." Has anyone heard this elsewhere? Perhaps a chink in Mr. Perfect's armor?
I haven't heard this anywhere else, so thanks JetFighter. I have said before that if the Jets want to take Cutler at 4, they need to keep Pennington, ironically enough. Because if they send Chad packing, I can't see that they'll be able to sign a high draft pack and eat the dead money under the cap. I'm not a capologist like some on this board, but that's my hunch.
He also blamed his teammates for his mediocre college stats as seen at his news conference on DirecTv. If Tannenbaum and Mangini claim they are interested in team first players I don't see how you overlook his personality.
He's a KID!!!! And unless he's doing marcus vick type stuff this ^^^ is the only part that should matter
Okay, so what if you're not doing Marcus Vick type stuff, but you are doing Ryan Leaf type stuff (throwing teamates under the buss, etc)?
First of all, i don't think he threw his teammates under the bus, when i read that, i was thinking that he was just responding to why he wasnt as successful as leinart of young. It seems he was burning them more than anyone. He was telling it like it was, just like favre did. (im not implying anything there)
Yea, then they had to take the belt away from the warrior because they weren't having near the success they had with hogan. Everyone was crying for him back.
jay cutler reaks of the ' crazy rising qb with great arm strength' that has seemed to bless recent drafts with jp losman and kyle boller. it hasnt worked yet. i dont think it will
It's funny. Cutler blamed team mates for a season that has super hyped him and DeAngelo Williams praised his team for the same outcome. Williams didn't play with the strongest supporting staff and still put good numbers and said his team mates played real hard to get him where he ended. 3rd string QB, small OL etc. In the end it doesn't matter. We will sign someone and then topics will change to how this guy is going to FINALLY be the piece we needed to make a run. At this point I don't care who we get as long as EM makes the RIGHT move. We need help everywhere.
No what he said was in response to linnarts quote about how he (linnart) is a proven winner and al;l he does is win, & Cutler responded by saying how he could produce under the toughest of situations, scrambleing for his life & still completeing pass`, He ( cutler ) SAID NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM MY TEAMATES ,they give there all but I didn`t have the advantage linnart did of having all americans at just about every position & i`m sure if I did I would be able to win those games also...He didn`t throw his teammates under the bus he just pointed out the mere fact that USC is basicly the probowl team of collage football & vanderbilt is made up of a bunch of also rans...
Name one guy coming out who isn't compared to someone. Maybe he is like Kyle maybe he is like Brady or Ferote or Steve Young. Every player has bust potential but they also have star potential. I don't think I could bitch too much if we picked a bust this year if it one of the guys at the top of the board. Chances are if they stink it up with us they probably would with someone else. I know systems are diff. but a bust is a bust. As long as we pick a position of need I think I will be happy. If they have top 5 talent they will bring something to the team. This isn't like the B Thomas fiasco when we all thought 'who the hell did we just pick'?
We've been through that. He should have said I'm surrounded by All Americans so we should have won more but didn't because I suck.
Does John Abraham stuff count? Abraham has been killed by his haters for destroying a fire hydrant. http://sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=nytimes&page=/cfoot/news/AFN2361723.htm
There are always widely divergent views at this time fo the year. Partly because people HAVE divergent views and partly because they are throwing up smoke screens left and right.
He's a possible on-field leader of the future for a multi-million dollar football franchise, they tend not to like to put their investments in the hands of kids.
