The poster Long time Jets fan makes an interesting comparison with statistics and asks a fair question, "I wonder who played on the best teams" or somesuch as though that should be apparent to all.

The Packers since 2000 have been dreadful (except for the last half of 07') as a whole and aren't these the Pennington years? God I wish we had had your defense and special teams. We didn't have the receivers you guys enjoyed in New York. Didn't you guys have Chrebet and Moss and now Cotchery and Coles? Jennings will be good and Driver was just a good starter who revered Favre and Bubba Franks. The rest were strictly journeymen.

Pennington threw 82 TDS in SEVEN years. Not acceptable. The Pack had a run game at times because Ds feared Favre's arm.

Favre has completed 70% with 6 strikes and 3 picks and that one involving Coles yesterday was where Coles had first touch on the ball and he has a 98.7 QB rating! I guess I just don't get it. 448 TDs in 256 games equals exactly 28 per year for 16 years and he's on pace for 32 in 08!!!! Is that so bad?

Sorry guys but Montana, Brady and Manning never had to suffer through playing on year after year of mediocre teams.

We did score 29 points, 31 if you count extra points. Don't blame Favre for not stopping the run or River's three TDs. Lets just hope it gets better and in week four somebody has to play Fitzgerald and Boldin because they are for real and put pressure on Warner because like Brady he punks when he gets hit.

too bad we couldn't trade the Pennington fans along with Pennington.

Pennington = Herpes ....no matter how hard you try to get rid of him, he keeps coming back.

I disagree. Pennington is a good player and person. I am more surprised in the people who aren't his fans.

Jets fans get a taste of success and optimism every so often, more often in recent years. Since Pennington has led us to the playoffs several times, he gave us Jets fans hope, and then got injured and left us disappointed. Since he gave us high expectations and the team never came through in the clutch, many fans placed the blame on him. Since he made us feel in his early career that he was our franchise QB, and didn't pan out, many fans grew to hate him. However, he's one of the Jets most successful QBs of all time, and he gave us the most playoff appearance ever to my knowledge.

Um... maybe you should all take a second look at this guy's post.
Granted, it's not well-written at all, bbut I think that he's trying to say:
He's a Bret Favre fan, former green Bay guy, and supports the Jets with Favre.
    I didn't get the impression he's a Pennington supporter.
I could be wrong but on the other hand...
I do not blame anyone on this board whose eyes glaze over when it looks like another Penny fan is going to rant and rave.

The more I hear this Pennington coming even near Favre, the more I lose confidence in my fellow man... STOP

Montana won a SB w/ Ricky Patton, Earl Cooper and Johnny Davis as his RBs and w/ Dwight Clark(who was GOOD not great) and Freddie Solomon as his WRs and the only WRs on the team in double digit recs. Tom Brady won 2 SBs where his staring RB was antowain Smith and his top WRs were Troy Brown(again GOOD but not great WR), David Pattenm Deion Branch and David Givens.

Favre had enough talent to win especially in that weak division and conf and he been mostly mediocre the last decade.
