I've always liked Chad Pennington and think he'd make a great QB coach. He may be the key to getting Petty and Hack online to be developed into decent QBs.
Why not Ken O'Brien? I understand he runs a QB school. Ex-players usually don't make the best coaches, but hey, Kubiak and Jason Garrett have done just fine.
The master of mis direction. One of the best play action passers to ever play the game. Something drastically missing from the passing game. Run to pass. Personally would love to have Pennington as QB coach for the Jets.
^ Yep. If someone with a head like Pennington had interest in coaching football, he'd probably be an OC for an NFL or NCAA team by now and maybe a HC candidate. He doesn't want to coach.
Can't blame him either. He's probably enjoying his money and a simple life rather than the stressful job of being an NFL coach. Man I miss him though. He's the only quarterback to win this division in the past 16 year. Healthy Pennington on the 09/10 Jets probably gets us to the Super Bowl and we would still be having some success as he neared retirement around this time. What could've been.
"A healthy Pennington". Man, I got so sick of hearing those words. The saddest part is that his arm strength early on was decent enough to get it done, even if he didn't have a rocket arm. Then he actually ruined his own career diving head first in a scramble. This is why I have no tolerance for a QB that doesn't slide.
I wonder what would happen if RBs and WRs started sliding, too. Would the difference in yards per play be made up for by the reduction in injuries? Sure would make football boring to watch....
I seriously doubt Pennington's going to leave the good life to come back to the Jets. He's too smart for that.
He could probably walk right into OC if he wanted the job But anyway 2002 Pennington was a legit franchise QB but since we're the Jets it wasn't meant to be
