http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ts-thinking-about-going-after-derrick-brooks/ I guess this gives the strongest indication yet that Mayo will be out a long time.
derrick brooks was on jim rome is burning the other day. he said he's ready to play physically, and that he fielded some offers from teams over the preseason, but that none of the situations presented interested him. if the pats came calling for him, i'm pretty sure he'd accept going to play for them. we'll see what happens with this.
Only makes sense if they are planning on going with the 4-3 base until at least Mayo gets back. Guyton looked pretty awful the other night and Brooks could be an upgrade.
I've read reports that NE has switched to a base 4-3 this season because of all the losses in the LB core and Dline strength. I saw alot of 4-3 on Monday Night from them.
"citing an unnamed source with knowledge of the team's thinking" AKA totally making shit up because it would kind of make sense if they did sign him and then you can take credit for the scoop, and then if they don't, whatever, we're on to the next story.
Saw that on ESPN before my last class. Brooks is expected to be in studio for Thursday and the guys the NFL show (I forget what they are calling it) say there is little to no chance he will play for anyone for this week at least.
