http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ One week before their regular season opener, the Texans have acquired a quarterback to whom they’ve long been linked. The Patriots have traded backup Ryan Mallett to Houston, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Sunday. Terms of the trade have not yet been disclosed. In Houston, Mallett will work again with Bill O’Brien, the former Patriots offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach who’s now the Texans’ head coach. For New England, the move makes rookie Jimmy Garoppolo the only backup to starter Tom Brady. The focus now turns to whether Mallett can overtake Ryan Fitzpatrick for the Texans’ starting job. The trade could also potentially lead to another roster move for Houston, which now has four quarterbacks. Were a quarterback to be moved, third-year pro Case Keenum would seem to be the prime candidate.
Rich get richer. Fuckin Patriots man. They draft Gorappolo, who in my opinion will be a stud in the coming years, and now they will acquire more draft picks likely. Mother fuckers
It won't be higher then a 6th round pick so technically the Patriots lost this trade. To flip a 3rd round pick for a 6th rounder. And we have no idea how good or bad Garoppolo will be - it reminds me of the time the Patriots went and drafted Mallet.
I may be wrong, but I doubt it will be a pick that low. They could let him walk after the year to help them get a supplemental pick better than that.

I would take a more experienced mallette over garopollo in the case brady misses any time this season. Whatever garopollo is going to be, now he is a rookie and rookies struggle.
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora 4m From what I'm hearing sounds like pick Pats receive from Texans for Mallett maxes out at a 6 based on performance. Could be less.
Texans had the first choice in waivers. Seems like BB said "look, you gotta give me something, anything, or I'm not gonna cut the guy"
I think Mallet will get the starting job eventually this year, but I actually like Savage as the future QB in Houston....
He was getting cut, thats all I heard, so the Patriots had to take whatever. That Houston team is deadly if they can get respectable QB play. Sleeper team of the year imo.
Offensively you might be right. I have to look more into their offense but Obrien might be able to help the offense excel with lesser talent.
