Old and injury-worry guys: Justin Houston, KJ Wright Nothing to show for: Shaquille Barrett. What do you think about these guys? Do you guys like any of them? How are they as a person? Will they fit in the locker room?
Probably going to address the position in the draft. Barr fucked us hard. While he was spewing in the toilet, Green Bay grabbed the best of the rest. Mostly old recently injure players or guys who never lived up to their potential.
I feel like the smart play is to sign Justin Houston to a two year contract, draft one of the top edge guys at 3, let him learn from a very productive player like Houston while they man the two outside positions for a year or two together.
I think Shaq Barrett could be a good player for us at a relatively cheap price. Worst case, he'd a solid rotational player. Markus Golden is also available and although he underperformed last year, they had him trying to play defensive end when he's a natural stand up pass rush linebacker.
I wish he could stay healthy, but I guess if he could, he wouldn't be a free agent. My gut is he takes a one year deal with N.E. Seems like one of their moves. Let Flowers walk and grab a Houston on the cheap.
Houston they say is still effective. I say take him, trade down and still get and effective edge with the first pick.
I think the smart move would be to sign a guy like Houston or Ansah and then address it in the draft. A large part of me wants to trade down in this draft, but the pass rusher we could get at number 3 would be a game changer. I'm honestly torn on the whole thing.
I would sign Huston for 2 years, and draft Josh Allen this year. A linebacker core of Allen-Williamson-Mosely-Huston could be incredible Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I'd like Ray or Perry, but Houston is the ideal guy. Veteran who the guys can learn from and is still very productive.
I was all for trading down but I'm way to nervous to think Mac would get it right with the later pick...we have a chance to get a top notch pass rusher at 3, lets not get too cute.
Shaq Barrett is underrated. He can win 1:1 pass-rushing matchups and plays the run well, too. He is still young (26) and was stuck behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb last season. But learning from someone like Miller can only help. Hard working guy and plays with a lot of energy. He was one of my desired signings from the get-go and I am surprised that he is still unsigned as of now. Could be a real bargain high-upside signing… With that said Justin Houston remained fairly effective when healthy and could be the perfect stopgap and the position. Why not both? Other names to keep in mind: Shane Ray (26, former first rounder, had 8 sacks in 2016, his second year in the league) Aaron Lynch (26, was the backup to Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd last season and played well, showed off a variety of pass rushing moves, durability and weight have been problems in his career, some off-the-field and suspension issues) Markus Golden (28, had 12.5 sacks in 2016, bad knee injury in 2017, wasn't well suited for the Cardinals' 4-3 last season)
Ansah. He didn't have a good year in 2018 which is obviously hurting him on the open market. The Jets (or some other team) could get him at a steal of a price on a short term deal.
It could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. It's more a slap in the face, embarassment for the franchise at the moment, gives the haters a reason to laugh. I heard some not good things about his play last season. It wasn't a smart decision on his part the Jets are in a better place with Darnold at QB than the Vikings are now JMO.
I'm interested to see how Anderson is used in Williams defense... he played pretty good in Toilets D , imagine him with a coaching staff that actually has a clue.
Houston Collins Perry Big news is San Fran getting dee ford. We may very well have our choice at one of the three pass rushers at the top of the draft.
