I kept hoping that someone would step up make a play yesterday, but it never happened. We consistently cannot stop the run, or generate any type of pass rush, and cannot make enough big plays in the secondary to stop drives. Last week we almost let Losman beat us, and yesterday we couldn't make one play on defense when it mattered. Its frustating to watch, but as far as I'm concerened, everyone can go except Ellis, Vilma and Rhodes. Keep Miller as a special team player, because he really sucks in the secondary. Coleman, Strait, Dyson, Barrett......lets hope they're gone next year because they suck.

lets not get crazy here, granted our D line does suck, though ellis played great yesterday. Dont forget your playing the best offense in the league and arguably the best team ( but its really chi town)

Yeah I know it was Manning yesterday, but it was Losman last week, and even Kerry Collins in week one. We're lucky we won those games. We're ahead 28-13 against the Bills with less than four minutes left. We're ahead 28-24 with 2 minutes left yesterday. We cannot close out games with the way this defense is presently constructed. These players are not getting better, they are what they are.

Clogging the middle and stopping runs up the gut would go a long way toward making this group look a lot more like a championship-caliber defense. Its not the whole defense, just a speed rusher and a run-stopping lardass that we don't have right now. Give it a year and a couple new linemen and you'll see just how good the rest of these guys can be.

I actually think the defense has done very well, and its all due to schemes. Sutton and Mangini have done an A+ job with the players they were given. We could win a division this year and still get better next season.

Our secondary has made lots of big plays this year, so I wouldn't say we suck. They are not being helped by a lack of a pass rush for sure, but we seem to have the bend don't break philosophy and hope to make a big play. Which prior to this weekend we had been doing.

Lack of PAss Rush gives more TIme for the QB to pick DBS apart. Dbs cant keep up with WR especially if the WRs know the play n the DBs are just trying to be as close as the WR

We need a much better pass rush, the secondary cant stay on lockdown forever.

Do defenses even play bump man to man coverage with the safeties roaming around? I'd rather get burned deep then on 20 yard hook routes because of a huge cushion.

The secondary isn't horrible. The lack of pass-rush is the problem for them. No secondary looks good when the QB has all day to throw, especially when that QB is Peyton Manning. Also, Barrett was inactive, allowing Manning to pick on Miller.

We made a mistake letting Abraham go, just like we made a mistake letting Lamont Jordan go.

Because we had the cap room to keep em both? Id love Lamont but he needs a good o-line, he isnt doing anything in oakland without an o-line, we dont have a good one. And abe is injured again.

we seriously need to keep a counter of how many ppl say this. on to the thread...
our secondary isn't that bad. They make big plays. Miller needs to pick it up though. He can keep up with anyone in the league but he needs better recognition skills of where the ball is. But the secondary needs some help from the front 7 in putting a pash rush! this is annoying when you see all these qb's sitting back there just staring down receivers for 5 minutes. And concerning our run defense, the DLine isn't completely to blame. The problem is the tackling. The tackling was absolutely terrible. Our guys have to learn to wrap up ball carriers and not just push them around. Hopefully mangini can really pick up the tackling and the pass rush before the jacksonville game.

I'm curious how you can possibly defend your statment.

Our schemes are not paying dividends. At all.

Our defense sucks. And we should be playing a 4-3.

What the hell do you want from a guy playing one of the better receivers in the NFL!? He held him to 4 receptions! The long pass, Wayne just had great position...The pass-interference call was pretty bad now that i've had multiple times to look at it...Now, on the final TD for Indy, the play by Wayne was bad defense by Miller, i'll give you that...

But to hold Reggie Wayne to 4 receptions i'll take while leading the team in tackles with 9.

Dyson, again, held Marvin for most of the game, until, again, Manning and Marvin turned it up crunch time...He's been one of the few bright spots on this defense and you want him gone...

    Gimmie a break.

This is the best Jet's secondary since 2001. I'd be happy if all of them were back next year to go with a stronger pass rush.

Miller is starting to piss me off with his inconsistency though. The secondary would be much better if Barrett was playing opposite Dyson on first and second down.
