I am the fan that boycotted Hess Gas. I am the fan that wore a paper bag to NYJ games. I am the NYJ fan who handed out leaflets to fans urging NYJ fans to boycott Hess Gas. So I never ever thought we could have a owner worse then Hess but we have The Johnson's IMHO they are actually worse then Hess. The question is how in the heck are we so unlucky to have probably had/have the 2 of the worse owners in the NFL?
Champ, you missed my thread about the new Org. chart. Our problems stem from our CEO that wrote the book on how NOT to run a NFL franchise. He's the owner's lil bro and that's his only qualification. Both are trust fund babies so neither guy has had to work particularly hard at anything. As long as the Johnsons pretend to run the franchise, we can pretend to care. Not sure if you saw the "protest" at Florham Pk. that nobody really came to.. That's apathy setting in and believe me, the Johnsons are happy that there's no fans in the stands booing the shit out of this joke of a roster pretending to play NFL calibre football. I can say that nothing changes on the field until everything changes in the boardroom with a good amount of confidence. Unfortunately, the Johnson, like the plague, will around longer than we would like them to.
I wonder if Dolan would have been better? At least that West Side Stadium project wouldn't have been blocked...
Everything started to go wrong when that didn't happen. It seemed like this team was finally going to get its own identity and even move back to New York. I can't remember the whole saga, but surely a determined owner could have found somewhere in New York to get a stadium built? Instead, he just signed up for another stadium share with our hated and condescending rivals. It was a chance to set this team on a new course and I don't know if I'll see such a chance again. Yes we need new players, but Champ is absolutely right - we need new owners. And a new stadium.
U have your info totally at of balance at Giants stadium we owned NOTHING we rented it from the NYGs just like U lease a flat. Here at Met Stadium we r halfie halfie owners with the NYGs that is night n day from what U posted sorry to say. The end result is we own 1/2 a stadium in NJ instead of a whole stadium in NYC
We don't need new owners. We need our present owners to let the football guys make the football decisions and build a team rather than mandating GM's keep coaches, trade their best player, sign their (former) best player back a year and a half later, publicly say it's OK to not make the playoffs, etc. The Johnson's can transform into great owners if they let Douglas make all of the football decisions moving forward and Christopher books a flight to St. Thomas and watches the games while sipping on whatever rich billionaires drink. Jerry Jones talks a big stupid game, but his son is an excellent football mind and makes all of the football decisions including the draft. And while they end up as a disappointment at times they are one of the best drafting teams of the last decade.
Cowboys wrote the book on modern scouting & drafting.John Wooden/Gil Brandt guided a legendary scouting staff & computer based infrastructure that was light yrs ahead of its time in the 70s. Then Jimmy J came along, created the value chart, used a poker mentality & made the draft whar it is today. I wish the Jets scouting infrastucture had that kind of history & track record. Its been downeright horrible
Yet again I am baffled by your take on something I have written. We share a stadium. Dress it up anyway you want. Half the time, a different NFL team is playing in 'our' stadium. Having our own stadium would be better and I think it was a serious setback to the franchise when that didn't happen.
Oh I wish MetLife JETS stadium was in the city. Would have been great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Johnson’s made Hess look like an ownership brilliant mind. Lol. Too bad Hess got so late in life. Johnson’s should see the writing before it is too late to enjoy a winning team and culture! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
here are a few samples of what i sent to CJ which should be hitting his desk today! I was not surprised by your recent public vote of confidence regarding the head coach. However, I must seriously ask if you really believe that? Frankly, I perplex how you could have “full confidence” in Adam Gase, call him a “brilliant” offensive mind who can work to develop quarterbacks. Personally, I find your statements to be specious at best and at worse, disingenuous to the fan base. AND... One last comment, before I start on QB. You both (JD included) continue to speak about the job Adam Gase did holding the team together at 1-7 and going 6-2 over that half of season. If you give him kudos for that last half of 2019, then you need to use the same measure called “accountability” for not having his team practice hard and prepared for the last two game. And .... So, is mediocrity now the standard for this team? I expect your answer to be, of course not, which I find amusing since you both are responsible for the composition of this team as presently constituted and the coaching staff. Let me remind you both that last year’s team lost two (2) games to winless teams If that does not embarrass you or disgust you then nothing will. Maybe mediocrity is the standard. Yet other second years coaches are winning, i.e., AZ Cardinals Kliff Kingsbury 2-0 year or even Miami is competitive. Maybe I expect competence when none exists.
That's the problem, the owner was determined to be in Manhattan. And the most perfect location in the city was available - the site of Shea Stadium! A building like Lucas Oil Stadium cheek by jowl with CitiField - who could ask for more? All that's needed is an owner with some vision. Like a lot of things, I guess.
The trust fund idiots are playing real life fantasy football and are too egotistical to give up any powers. It wouldn't be as fun to them if someone else got to make the decisions.
Tell me what U do not understand besides the difference in the British N the American N I will do a KISS for U which means in US Army speech keep it simple silly
Yea, somehow it’s been horrible with different people making the picks every few years. I’d get it if the owners were making the picks - at least then you could explain the consistency - but they’re not. You don’t have to look far to truly understand why this franchise has been trash for so long.
You're right and wrong at the same time. The stadium will not make anyone a winner but an owner not satisfied with sharing a mausoleum of mediocrity would likely not be satisfied with a muster of misfits. There is something to be said for pride of ownership in the NFL.
