Jun 3 Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports the New York Jets may be interested in signing unrestricted free-agent OG Jeno James (Dolphins). Jeno James Position: G Height: 6-4 Weight: 320 Born: 01/12/1977 College: Auburn NFL Experience: 8 Year Team G GS 2000 Carolina Panthers 16 4 2001 Carolina Panthers 14 6 2002 Carolina Panthers 9 2 2003 Carolina Panthers 16 16 2004 Miami Dolphins 14 14 2005 Miami Dolphins 16 16 2006 Miami Dolphins 9 9 TOTAL 94 67 Thanks NJJets
Because that's what they have on the NFL website...Something phishy about this...Why did the dolphins let him go and now they want kendall? Sounds like a downgrade to me.
Yeah , strange , I pasted what I thought were his game stats without looking at them. I did read a while back that he was injured (badly?) and didn't get back into the team. Maybe someone can confirm that???
our OL is a fuckin joke. moving forward we have only 2 starters and one of them might be another #4 pick dissappointment.
i wouldn't call it a joke but we have 2/5ths of an anchor and in this league you need at least 3/5ths of probowl caliber talent....... i know there was a cash hoard out there for the OL this offseason but the jets, IMO, are now faced with rebuilding the other 3/5ths of the line in next years draft/fa that may take away from the other positions that are still in need like DL and WR jil
Does everyone forget we had Kevan "fall down if a pinky finger hits me" Barlow in the backfield a lot last year. And Chad really didnt get sacked or hit that many times compared to a lot of QBs in the NFL
You're overreacting in regards to our OL. It's hardly "a joke." While we didn't run the ball as well as we could have last year, we had a series of backup guys and rookies. The Giants would kill to have a line like ours, as would many other teams. Ferguson and Mangold both had above average rookie seasons and Moore is an adequate starter who is still young enough to improve. Jones and Wade Smith can fill in at any spot. Jeno James would be a sensible veteran who is a fairly versatile blocker. Bender and Blanton have big upside. -X-
I'd rank our O line in the bottom of the better half of the league. What makes them better is the fact that we have a coaching staff that understands how to adjust the scheme to the talent on the field!
The Giants O-Line ranked 4th overall in run blocking and 7th overall in pass protection last year. The Jets were 25th and 17th respectively. I agree we have some solid building blocks, and some players with upside that show potential, but it is by no means an elite unit that others would kill for. Brick has many flaws, Kendall, Moore and Clement are solid but not spectacular. Mangold in only his second year is the cream of the crop at this point. One more point. Considering Mangold didn't participate in the OTAs because of an unknown condition is not a good early sign...
Mangold did participate. I watched film of him taking snaps on Jets Nation (and yes it was this year). I do agree that our line is well below average.
Well that is good news, I read on JC that he just rode the bike. http://jets.scout.com/2/648520.html Probably just tweaked something <fingers crossed>
Missing games due to injuries, not a mobil G. Cameron likes pulling G's with some athletic ability. As for Kendall, until it happens it's just a rumor. I haven't heard much about Kendall in a while other then his medical issues.
Yeah I read about this before seeing the Jets Nation show that had him taking snaps. Not sure if the film was shot before or after that was seen, but I was a bit relieved to see him on the field. Regardless, he seems like a real tough SOB and I'm not real worried about him not playing unless it's something real serious.
Mangold has minor, nagging injuries. The Giants had a top flight running back last year. The Jets had a backfield of rookies and has beens. Moreover, two players on the Jets were learning rookies who had never started an NFL game. They have a spot starter guard listed one on their depth chart and a guy who has never played left tackle playing left tackle. I would not expect similar results with the Jacobs/Droughns duo back there. -X-
I watch the Oline and I think we are watching 2 different lines here. Yes the RBs last year sucked, but there were NO run gaps. The line was ranked towards the bottom of the league in run blocking for a reason. And a BIG reason for that is the right side of the line. Moore is average/adequate on a good day. And that is not good enough if you want a SB calibur team. He had more penalties last year than Moore and Brick combined. Every play I was praying he wouldn't get caught on a false start or holding penalty. With the amount of years he has in the league he should not have that many penalties, period. He is not that good. Clement is not that great. When he can plant his feet and hold off a DL that is running right at him, he is great. But when he has to move his feet, his technique sucks. If he has to open a gap by moving his feet, he gets beat, A LOT. Kendall is good, but he was getting old last year. And now he seems to be on the outs. So if he does leave, there is no one there to take his place. Why this wasn't addressed in offseason I have no idea. And the depth on the Oline sucks. Look at the Pats Oline during their championship years and even today. One of their guys get hurt, a back up comes in and the line doesn't loose a beat. That is because they draft quality Olinemen. Jones is a joke, and the only reason he is on the team IMO, after his arrest is because they don't have anyone better. Bender is a LONG LONG term project. People keep talking up Blanton, but he hasn't played a snap yet in the NFL. He was on the practice squad. How anyone knows he has a big "upside" is beyond me. The fact is the only decent back OL the Jets have is Smith. They are REALLY thin, that is why they are looking at guys like Jeno James. The fact is the OL is still being rebuilt. It seems to me some people think that just because the Jets drafted Mangold and Brick all the problems are solved. There is more to the Oline than just not letting the QB get sacked. Jones will help a little, but if he doesn't have any gaps to run in, then it is not going to make that much of a difference. The Oline is still in the middle of a rebuilding process, and not all that great yet.
