Patriots were and are the better team (okay all the Pats fans should be happy now)but you do get the calls. I go back to the Raider game and the Tuck rule to yesterday's Phantom P/I call on Poteat. Man had position on the reciever and still gets flagged. Never mind that Penninton got hit like a Pinata yesterday.Woody better wake up and speak his piece at the Owners meetings during the offseason instead of kissing Kraft's butt!!
If we are going to complain about call's, they would be the free piggy back ride's we were giving to the Patriots LB's yesterday on every pass chad threw at the first down marker. Did anyone else see that like 3-4 times?
N.E was clearly the better team but there have been countless games i.e. the N.E. Colt playoff game being one of them when the Patriot's DB's assaulted the Recievers of the Colts. To say N.E. doesn't get the benefit from NFL officials is being naieve .
I think Pennington rigged the game. I think he fumbled the ball on purpose, and furthermore, threw that pick just to clench it for the Pats. I am thoroughly disgusted with him at this point. Brad Smith in '07!
How about we not make excuses for losing? There were a couple of possibly questionable calls during the game (and in what game is there not?), but for the most part I felt pretty good about the officiating for once. I don't remember seeing any plays where they should have called roughing against the Pats, but then again i believe the QB shouldn't be an endangered species.
The calls didnt' make the difference in yesterdays game--the players did. Their guys came through, ours didn't. I can't believe how hard some people are taking this. Is it really that hard to just move on with our life?
you also cant jump the route like that without going for the ball which is what the ref explained...I also saw the Pats get flagged for about 65 yards including 2 personal fouls...to come in this board and complain about officiating is flat out retarded
This is a weekly feature, much like the complaints about the crowd at home games. People need to realize that all fans feel like the refs "screwed" them or the announcers were "out to get them" at one point or the other. Perception affects your reality. I was reading some posts by Pats fans earlier today about the "pro NY" announcing team for the game yesterday. I certainly didn't get that impression from listening to the game.
It's what happens to successful teams at home in the playoffs. Always. Now the Jets need to find success. I know it isn't fair, but the calls in the game yesterday didn't strike me as overtly biased.
not one offensive holding call on the patriots! They held almost every play! When the analysts on ESPN showed how "GREAT" the Pats protection was...they circled to linemen saying how awesome they were...you can see them holding on that play! HAS EVERYONE TURNED RETARDED!?
quit whinning about the refs. good teams over come and win reguardless. refs are just an excuse for the babies out there who can't handle the fact the better team won, period..........
Thats it in a nutshell. Its not making excuses, and I say that confidently because Im not the sort of fan who gets all torn up about a game like yesterday, Im going on with my life just fine, so this isnt a reaction to a loss, its a restatement of something that weve been seeing for years now. Some of the hits on Pennington yesterday would have been 15 yard penalties if they were made on Brady. And something like that 'faceguarding' penalty on Poteat would almost never be called on a patriot (by the way, faceguarding refers to making a play on the ball without looking at the ball, ie following the receivers eyes to know where the ball is. The fact is that you play your man until the ball gets there, and then you can either A, look for the ball and make a play on it, or B, not go after the ball. Poteat looked like he never had any clue the ball was even there until it was on the ground, so I really dont think faceguarding enters into the question. An interference call could only result from Poteat impeding the receiver's path to the ball without going after it himself, which he sort of did... point is it was borderline, and the Patriots always get the benefit of a doubt in those borderline situations.) But the bottom line is that you can solve this problem, by winning more games than the Patriots and making them come to YOUR house in the playoffs (where you can usually get an even shake against the Pats from the refs).
The pats had like 3 unnecessary roughness calls on them. Thats crazy. They should have gotten 10. Omg I can' believe the Jets got none and the Pats got three. The pats where so much tougher and aggressive then us, it wasn't fair. (sarcasm) just give it up man. Refs had nothing to do with it
The tuck call was the correct call....but after that play the Patriots still had to drive and score. They then stopped the Traiders on 4th and inches and scored again to send the game into overtime with a 45 yard feild goal (in a snow storm). And then another FG to win it in OT. Did the tuck rule help the Patriots go down to Pitt the next weekend and kick their a@@ in their house? Did the tuck rule help the Patriots go into the championship game and smack the "greatest choke on turf" in the mouth to win the title?
