I'm not pleased, though, as mentioned in another thread, maybe Castro'll get more playing time now.

Another report came out that says the Mets only offered 2-years, $10 million. I'd be more inclined to go with this one honestly.

That's what my dad mentioned to me before.

I don't see him going to the Marlins. I could see him resigning with the Rockies, but money may talk, and he could wind up on the Mets when it comes down to it.

If he doesn't sign with the Rockies, who would be their catcher? Chris Iannetta?

The Mets were smart to offer him three years. By that time, Francisco Pena, Tony's son, who is now 18, and highly touted will be ready to step in full time.

I'm not sure exactly how to read the apparent speed with which the Mets are running away from Lo Duca. Not that I don't understand it, but it makes me wonder if Willie is not having much input into Omar's thinking, given how much he's loved Lo Duca the last couple of years.

It is a little strange. If Omar doesn't value Willie's judgement or input(he shouldn't) why didn't he get rid of him when he had the chance. Maybe it's just that with his job on the line now Omar is going to trust himself more then anyone else.

    I'd prefer Yorvit/Castro to LoDuca/Castro for sure.

This, of course, hinging on whether or not we sign Castro.

I hope to god the Mets aren't relying on him as the future catcher of this team right now. I mean the guy is only 18 years old. You can't plan on him being here in 3 years. You can hope he will be ready in 3 years, but you can't count on it.

Will the catcher bat 8th? That's definite, right?

    Probably not if Milledge starts.

I hope Milledge doesn't bat 8th...no reason for him to.

I think we should instill confidence in him...he has great potential, after all.

I'd bat Milledge second, get some power in the 2 hole and have him seeing lots and lots of fastballs

    StatJeff cmon....you're a bright guy...

Lo Duca.....Only hit .225 at Shea, but hit .321 on the road...And only strikes out >10% of the time.

Torrealba....Hit .296 at home (Coors field...haha) Managed a mighty .212 on the road, and strikes out over 20% of the time....

Hmmmm...What could the possible explantion be, for making such a switch...

Couldn't be that Omar is a thinly veiled racist could it??????

It doesn't get talked about in the sports pages, but both Isiah Thomas, and Omar seem to prefer certain types of players, in ways that don't equate to performance.....
