Jet's o-line may be the most overratted unit in the league. They are payed like an elite unit, but sure haven't played like it. They don't pass protect or run block - other than that they are great. If this kid is going to develop, these guys have to step it up, or the GM has to start looking for new talent. They deserve the blame for the loss yesterday almost as much as the QB. Its time for the spotlight to be turned on them.

o-line has been pretty average this year. I know teams are stacking the box but the o-line from last year isn't here now

I don't want to leave the OL off the blame list, but it is more complicated than blaming the starters.

First of all the bench is awful, so the CS can't get any real rotation going, keeping the starters fresh. Hunter and Turner were the only offensive linemen who came off the bench, and you do not have to be a know nothing fan to wonder who the hell those guys are. Yeah I know subs are not that important on the OL, but the Jets have nobody on the bench.

Second is the wideouts. With no real threats after Cotch the opponents can stack the line all day. That in turn makes the OL look worse.

There are other factors, too, but there are two of them.

The offensive line has been mediocre at best for most of the season. They're not opening holes for the running game and they're not doing a good job at protecting the QB. Add in the extra ingredients of aging runningback and rookie QB and it's pretty clear why the Jet's O has been stalled for most of the season. It's tempting to say that the tackles have underperformed, but really the guard play has been generally bad. Faneca and Moore aren't creating leverage in the run game and that's why there have been so few holes for Jones and Washington. They've also been beat by just about every type of blitz/stunt the opponent throws at them. Mangold has a huge burden sitting in the middle of that trying to stabilize it and his play has suffered some also.

The right side is not getting it done for the most part, but Ferguson has gotten beaten more than I would like to see.

    Mangold can't do it all.

Ferguson has a problem next to him in pass protection. Faneca really isn't even an average pass blocker any more.

I didn't think D'Brick had a twitter account. Is it a "verified" account?

I think the Offensive line is definitely over rated, but these are capable guys. I really thought they could be a top 5 unit this year. They also have been together for their second year now so I would expect them to gel. Theres still more season left, but lets hope these guys can regain some confidence heading into this easier(!) 4 games.

I've been very upset that the Jets haven't had line depth for quite a while. Hopefully, it will be addressed this off season. I don't think we will have a big need for anything this year other than one or two defensive guys, a WR and some good line backups.

Anyone else notice no other than Jonathan Goodwin starting at C vs. the Jets last night. The guy wasn't anything but depth for us, and certainly didn't dominate v our front 3/4, but didn't appear to make many glaring mistakes either.

Yes, I did notice Goodwin, and 24-10, too.
