www.nydailynews.com EASY DOES IT: Here's a stat that would drive Mangini, who refuses to look ahead, crazy: The Jets' remaining schedule is the easiest in the league, based on won-lost percentage (20-34, .370). Did someone say playoff contenders?
THE OTHER side to this cupcake schedule is that we may very well have a second place schedule for 2007....... and from what i have seen so far this year the W-L may actually be worse next year than what we eventually see this year. jil
I wouldn't get my hopes up too high, yet. We still lack the tools. Even if we did go to the playoffs, imagine how OWNED we would be if we played Pittsburgh in our first game. I don't see virtually any chance of making passed round 1 (probably WC berth). As a Jets fan, I want my team to win, so I won't think about what this does for next year. I still stay we only hold the cards to win between 7 and 9 games this year. We will drop a few that on paper, we should win.
That could change, since that's only to this point, and it is fairly early. But yeah, this is why before the season began I didn't think we would be as bad as everyone thought we would be. I quietly saw 10-6 to 12-4, but figured 8-8 to 10-6 was more realistic. If we think Clemmons is the answer, however, we probably should replace Chad at midseason and we'll go 8-8 at best most likely.
why is it easy? becomes some of the teams have not won to this point? Do we really believe that the teams on the schedule will not win or are not capable of beating us? we will be in for a rude shock if we think that way.I do not see this team winning more than 6 games.
We probably won't play pittsburgh in rd 1 of the playoffs, if we make it, because we'd both be wildcard teams most likely.
Iv got us going 5-3 at the bye and loosing to new england and then the bears . But like the hommer I am I have us running the table after that to go 11-5. If we can beat new england or the bears then sky's the limit. We will get a very fair assesment of the commming games by what they do to two inferior teams(On paper) these comming weeks.
You play your division (6); one AFC division (4); one NFC division (4) -- so your finish will get you 2 games. Getting a "second place schedule" is not a big deal.
all fine points, but that really has nothing to do with the fact that record wise our opponents for the rest of the season have the worst combined records at this point, which can thus be judged the easiest schedule in the league as it stands today. whether those translate into easy games is another matter. you have attempted to deconstruct a rather simple premise far too much. this is only an analysis of records, not an indication of what will happen for the rest of the year. on paper, the Jets have the easiest schedule, when easy is defined by opponents win loss/records. who has an easier game on paper this week, the team that plays a 1 win team or a team that plays a 1 loss team? I think you would say the team playing the 1 win team. whether that comes to fruition is another matter. project that same principle on the combined records of opponents for the rest of the season and you have the easiest schedule, not that those games will turn out to be easy.
Screw 07 The fact is, we have to take advantage of this now and live in the present. The Jets must continue to win in 06. As long as they win the easy games, the jets will make the playoffs. They will finish anywhere from 10-6 to 12-4. If the Jets find a way to beat NE after the bye, they will win the AFCE.
Expecting this team to win EVERY game against the teams that are worse than us for the rest of the season is too much to ask at this point.
This is not as much a big deal as it used to be. 14 of the 16 games are identical, regardless of where you finish. You'll play the same 6 division games. You'll play the same 4 NFC teams, and you'll play the same 4 in 1 division in the AFC. Next year, I believe we play Pittsburgh/Baltimore/Cincy/Cleveland as our AFC division, so that'll mean we'll end up playing the SD/DEN loser in their division and JAX most likely...
A little too much sugar in the Coffee fellas. Slow Down. Fact is, We got Stomped by JAX, Pwn3d by Indy, and Slapped by N.E. It's a long road and the Goal is a SB. Beating up on weak ass teams = A 1 and Done in the Playoffs. And let's face it. We are the JETS and it will come down to the Oakland game and we will find a way to blow it.... ...That is unless we have a Miracle on D and they get their shit together.
what a clown/homer what a riot. other teams look at the jets as a very winnable game for them. and ROBA, i know your a major homer but, get a grip on reallity. afc east division winning team, lmfao!!!
While I agree that we are not a great team by any means, we did NOT get "Pwn3d by Indy or Slapped by N.E." We could have won either or both of those games.
Other teams look at the Jets as very winnable? Then those teams are idiots if they don't recongnize this team's talent.
Sprinkling a little too much Sugar in the coffee..... Yes it seemed like we were in it but that's according to anyone who didn't actually see the games. (Not saying you didn't) The final scores were not indicative of the actual ass-whoops. -NE was up 24-0 -Indy treated our D Like a Pee Wee team and we couldn't stop them at all. So in REALITY, They did Slap us up and Pwn3d us.
