I had posted in a thread earlier that if the Jets would fill In some need through proven players in the FA market, they can make the draft a heck of alot easier. In order I have listed our most important upcoming needs 1)A true #1 WR(Maclin or Nicks 1st round) 2)A safety to play opposite of Kerry Rhodes(sign leonhard) 3)Decent blocking #2 TE(draft a suitable option in 4th round) 4)NT depth(3rd rounder) 5)A kicker(re-sign Feely) 6)3rd string Rb(draft a 5th rounder) 7)Another DE?( if we could I would take Canty(6-7 monster) over igor) I couldn't make my mind on what to use the 2nd round pick on , perhaps Tyson Jackson?also I got the 5th rounder by trading the sixth and seventh to a team that's In need of depth. We lost our 5th In the sheppard trade
I'd really like a DE. Whether it be via draft or free agency, the age and mileage of our current DE's cannot be overlooked.
Trades are impossible to predict in the NFL so I wouldnt bank on the Jets getting that 5th. I agree though the Jets do need to adress the situations you mentioned.
Why make a new thread instead of bumping your old one then? As I posted in your previous thread, I think you should move DE way up and drop WR way down. We're going to be a running team. Also no way Tyson Jackson will be there in the second.
we have to try and get boldin. we have leonhard, we do need another big NT to back up jenkins that would keep jenkins fresh the whole year. everything else via draft. we really need a WR. why cant we trade for boldin? we can work something out.
i think we can go with ratliff and clemens, kind of far fetched thinking but i think they can surprise people, and be good enough to keep us in games. i think ratliff might beat out kellen, unless kellen steps up.
I think this is a great list, the only thing that needs to be moved up is DE which should be a big priority at this point, I wish there were better 3-4 de prospects in the draft so im hoping 2nd or 3rd round we will pick one up.
can pioha(sp) play 3-4 de?if so that helps with the de rotation and than we just need to draft the biggest dt in the 4th round.
piouha can play but we need a NT that can stay on the field longer than piouha cAN normally, someone who we would'nt notice a big diffrence on the d if jenkins is resting.
Jenkins rests on the nickel usually and 3rd down play. Pouha has shown flashes he can play the NT... but depth is never a bad thing. It's scary to have two very unproven guys at QB. If we can get Sanchez, I say do it.
I would love for them to draft Chris Wells or Knowshon Moreno in the first round...Jones will be 31 in Aug and we all know what happens with 30+ RB's. Also, I'm not sold on the WR's that are projected to go in the 1st round with the exception of Crabtree, and maybe Maclin, who will both be gone at 17.
well as mostly everyone knows the Jets will finally test what they have now.that is unless stafford or sanchez is available.I think this years offense will rely on defense and clock management.even a mediocre qb like Clemens may fit a clock management role well. Until then next year we definetly draft a Bradford or alike being this years qb draft class is poor. Unless you are willing for Freeman to develop.
i was going to write this as well. field position is beyond important... the Giants and Raiders have great punters that can pin offenses back... that extra 15 yards back is very important - and with what the defense is shaping up to be, those extra yards do wonders when a turnover happens. Gives the offense with the green QB a really short field to work with.
1. I'll back off a bit on Coleman; maybe Jets don't need to take a DE right now. Depth at DL won't hurt 2. Punter with boom! on his leg. 3. Then WR1
can we almost be 100% sure that the jets will select a WR in the 1st or 2nd round of draft unless we trade for Boldin
