Well, if nothing else he seemed to have a great attitude and leadership qualities which could be helpful for Geno in particular. As a football player, if he touches the field the Jets are utterly hosed.
Brady Quinn must really, REALLY, suck. He couldn't beat out Simms and now will be replaced by a old QB with questionable wheels. Brady? Meet Mr. Tebow in the hotel lobby.
nice cheap vet backup if needed in an emergency.... good guy to have sitting next to Smith on the sidelines giving advice as needed win win
he's more here as a vet presence for Geno and if Geno goes through a stretch like Tennessee we'll have someone who can step in and give him a rest.
TDK, great execution ^. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10...-retirement-david-garrard-re-signs-with-jets/ Smallest article ever? Vet presence re-sign, nothing more.
Then they should have just kept Garrard around as an adviser. I'm sure there are some other more "healthy" options out there.
There had been some talk of Garrard coming back as a coach when he retired. I love the move. We get a role model and advisor for Geno, we have a legitimate back-up who can step in and play if needed and get rid of Quinn. Essentially we get new and improved version of Brunell who might be able to actually play if needed. He could be our back-up for the next few years if his knee can stay healthy. All at a 1 million a year cheap salary. Glad to see Garrard is doing better health wise. He got a raw deal getting moved out of Jax and then bad luck with the injury in Miami. Sounds like a good guy who can bring some wisdom and leadership to the team. Plus he is a very smart efficient QB. The kind of role model whose attributes would blend well with Geno's gunslinger strengths.
