KERRY RHODES IS ON THE ESPN ALL PRO TEAM BUT NOT IN THE PRO BOWL http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/flash/2006/allProTeam
That's because people who understand sports and watch film from around the league choose for ESPN. Fans get a huge say in who appears in Hawaii.
Only starters. Players could have had their hand in the others, but the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest, not a football contest.
Sad, but all too true. Rhodes definitely belongs in Hawaii. At least he plays for the Jets and he is ours for a couple more years anyway.
IMO, you have to count the fan vote as larger than it's actual 33% value. Here's my thinking on it. Sure, it's a popularity contest, even among the players and coaches. However, don't you think they will cast votes in favor of either their teammates, or guys in their divisions, who they get to see twice a year? I'm willing to bet a lot of useful votes get split, simply because guys are picking people they respect after watching them multiple times in their careers. That's why I said the fans have a huge say, not the say.
the fact that Reggie Wayne is on this team pretty much ruins it for me. Theres no good reason to have him in there.
I'd rather be named an all pro than have to play in that meaningless game at the end of the season anyway... why risk a serious injury for a game that means absolutly nothing? i remember a few years back one of the pats running backs ended his career playing a beach football game during the pro bowl week... i'd hate to lose rhodes do to an injury in any game, nevermind a meaningless one
yeah my friend whos a cowboys fan has watched every jet game with me this yr and even he was angry that rhodes didnt get to the pro bowl. its the ultimate snubbing, he has LB stats at S. either way, hes just like Adrian Wilson who is easily the most underrated defender in the league. hes played at a pro bowl level his whole time in ARI but is just now recieving praise.
Everyone who watches football knows Kerry Rhodes shouldve been in the pro-bowl. Its just that when we have people voting who nly pay attention to their team, they look at the ballot and say "Oh, John Lynch! I know who he is!" and they vote for him because he was good a couple years ago. Gotta love popularity contests.
All-Pro is a higher honor than the pro bowl. PB is just a popularity contest while AP is usually the best players at each position.
Yea, and if Rhodes wants to go to Hawaii this year chances are he can afford a plane ticket. If he repeats his performance next year, even polotics won't be able to keep him out.
