The game came out today, I picked it up. It's really difficult. I said the same about 09 at first, and soon enough I was blowing people out. Really not a fan of the passing difficulty. It's really hard to do one-timers. The penalties are a bit much because after the play they ENCOURAGE you to rough around with people and if you don't want to, you are forced to skate around for 10 seconds before you get back to action. It gets really annoying. I actually got a game misconduct on Joe Thornton for an accidental slash. There's also this like stupid glitch for unsportsman like conduct. You can have the puck and then someone swipes your face, your guy stops skating and looks like he wants to fight. It's irritating.
I was playing a friend of mine today right after I got it, he had it in the corner ready to head the other way, I did the face swipe, stole the puck, and passed it for a one timer goal. Sadly, I'm thinking that's going to be a really popular move in online play.
I actually did that accidentally before. I wanted to corner the guy but he was too far off, got the puck for an easy wrister and a goal. Lame. It seems the main way to score in this game for me is slap shots. One timers sometimes, but mostly slappers.
i agree with you and i don't even own the game. I've played it 10 times and wouldn't care if I never played it again.
I think it's a fun game. The face swipe thing is annoying from time to time, passing is harder, and scoring in general is harder, but it's still fun to play.
I got it a few weeks ago for the PS3. The last NHL game I had was NHL 06 and this is very different. I have mostly played Be a Pro. I am an Offensive defenseman. I have scored several different ways where in 06 the only way to really score was on one-timers in the slot. There is a big learning curve. I am still learning how to do a slap shot consistently. BAP is a bit annoying at times with the feedback. I hate being admonished for being on ice for a goal that was not my fault but the coach tells me that I now have a minus. I am having a lot of fun with it and will soon start Be a GM and Playoff mode soon. Tons of game play in this.
