If Jets win the toss in OT what would you do??

  1. Take the ball, play offense

With the new OT rules and the Jets going up against Peyton and possibly Brady I was curious to see where everybody stood on this given Rex' preference for deferring the coin toss and starting games on defense.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about this rule they decided not to test out in the regular season, but wait until the playoffs where the game matter the most.

I fucking hate this era of the NFL.

Of all the changes, this one is pretty insignificant.

Obviously you still have to receive because you lose if they score a TD. I think the questions come into play when you have a 4th and short situation with a make-able FG attempt. If you're against Manning or Brady you may want to go for it there. I don't know.

I really do hate the fact that they only do this in playoffs. Retarded.

oops! I thought you got a possession even if the team with first possession scored a TD so I voted to defer.

Wow! Is this really a question? Both teams are NOT guaranteed a possession.

You have to receive, there is no question. Now going for it on 4th and short is a slight dilemma, but I would kick the fg and trust the d to keep them out of the endzone.

Why would you kick it ? You have to recieve in OT, on 4th and short, going for it depends on how Folk did throughout the game.

    Always receive.

as to the 4th and short, with a makeable FG, it depends on the area of the field, mixed with our success rates in short yardage during the game.

If its 4th and inches from the Indy 18 yard line, I run the I-Formation Blast (our bread and butter) with greene and send him over the pile. Play for the win.

Few questions about this new rule..

    1) What happens if both teams match 3 points? Is it first team to score after that?

    2) Once both teams have a possession is it first to score?

    3) This is a hypothetical scenario if #2 is right, but I have seen it before.. Let's say Indy picks us off in overtime and then fumbles it and we get the ball back all in one play, that counts as both teams having possession, correct? Therefore can we just kick a FG for the win?

as to #1 thats correct. #2 is also correct. as to your hypothetical scenario I believe you are correct, but lets not have sanchez throwing any INT's on the first possesion of OT in order to test out your theories...

Yup, thats exactly what Sanchez wants Indy to think. Free shot in the chest from Freeney can be pretty painful.
