The Tanny era is over for better or for worse, depending on your viewpoint. There's another thread for that. This thread is to look forward, not back. Got comments on Tanny put it in the Tanny thead. This thread, in my mind, is for looking at who may be the new GM, who we want as a GM, what changes are coming to the coaching staff and who would be good fits. Big changes are coming, lets discuss who would be good fills for the front office and coaching staff. Assume noone is safe, including Ryan despite what Woody said this morning. Make your cases for people, not based on who was here, but what the people your supporting can bring to the team. I'm not up to speed on who to bring in as GM or even scouting...so I'll remain silent there for now. But I believe that even if Ryan stays the entire coaching staff will get a shake up. Offensive co-ordinator: In my opinion Norv Turner is the choice here. There are a couple of OC's out there that I would prefer more but if they leave thier current position as OC it will be because they were offered a HC job. In my opinion you can question Norv as a Head Coach, But the man has a great offensive mind. He's not going to get a HC offere this year, but he is going to be highly in demand. QB Coach. I think a good choice here would be Jim Fassel. As a HC and OC I don't believe he's a good choice, but he understands QB's and has shown a knack for developing young QB's. He's really my second choice. My first choice would be Doug Marrone, but I don't believe he'd leave his current position for anything less than a HC or OC position in the NFL. Defensive Co-Ordinator-I would have no problem with Mike Pettine staying, but I think he'll be let to sign elsewhere. My choice here will raise some eyebrows, Romeo Crennel. He's not going to get offered another HC job, but he's a very solid Defensive co-ordinator. He was handed a trainwreck offense to try to coach, but as a DC before becoming HC he coached a Chiefs defense that was consistantly good, despite how god awful the offense was. It's worth noting that when he became HC instead of DC the chiefs defense fell from the #11 defense to the #20 defense. If the Jets do truly keep Ryan I think that Crennel would be a great compliment to Ryan. Currently I have no opinion on the OL Coach, DL, LB, DB coaches, or special teams coach. I currently have no opinion on new GM, or who should head up the scouting department. The only comment I have at this time on the GM is that it has to be a football guy with a background in assessing talent.

I would be happy with any of those guys, but what about Gaines? It would be great to get some information about him.
Tom Gamble in my opinion looks to be the absolute best option here. Caldwell doesn't look to have much experience. John Dorsey looks like a good option too
Agreed. Dorsey seems like a good choice. He spent his entire career in green bay and they've been successful especially when it comes to developing talent, QBs in particular.
Some interesting names on that list, and I'm not in a position to argue with your choices. But there are 2 names I'd like to add for consideration (like I said earlier I'm not ready to make my endoresment, not that my endorsment means jack squat). The two names I'd like to throw in the mix for GM would be Marc Ross from the Giants and Omar Khan of Pittsburgh, though the latter is not quite as experienced as I think a Jets GM needs to be. Ross has talent at assessing talent, plus it would be great to steal him from the Giants. I think he'll be in demand this offseason as a GM candidate for several teams. In fact, he's my current favorite, but I'm still researching resumes.
First off, thanks for looking into all this stuff Here's some stuff on Ross. It looks like he's the top GM candidate on the Panthers' list. Here's also an informative post on a Panther's site about Ross' draft record, which at least gives us his picks over the past few years.

I like DeCosta a lot.. For OC, we should full court press to get Norv Turner. If Pettine, does leave, i agree with OP about Crennel. Rest of positions coaches on D pretty safe. No strong opinion on ST coach. Hopefully a Westhoff asst ready.. Biggest decision right out of gate is what to do at QB position. I'd like to see them find a way to move Sanchez, even with eating money. Signings of both Matt Moore and Gradkowski would make sense.
No to Clinkscales, Cohen and Gaine. Don't want anybody with recent history with the Jets or the AFC East. The way forward is not through the past. No to Angelo, Polian and Kokinis. Don't want guys who have been there and done that. There's a good reason they're not doing it any more. Guys who won't come to the Jets: DeCosta and Dorsey. That leaves Caldwell and Gamble. I'd rather have John Idzik. Of course he probably won't come to the Jets given the position he has in Seattle.
To be fair, Kokinis didn't get a fair shot with the Browns. If I recall correctly, Mangini threw him under the bus to save his skin midway through his first season there.
Dorsey and Polian stick out on that list. Dorsey worked alongside one of the best personnel men ever in Ron Wolf and look what he's done in Green Bay. Polian's resume obviously speaks for itself and as I said last week he is 70 years old so he may not want it. However he knows talent and building franchises like few others ever have.
Two things to keep in mind with Polian: one, he didn't leave the Colts in very good shape when he left. They had basically devolved to Manning, Wayne, Freeney, Mathis, and spare parts. Two, there's no way that 70 year old Bill Polian will stick around for more than 2 or 3 years, tops. So if you hire Polian, long term you're really hiring his mouthbreathing son, who is the most useless product of nepotism in sports this side of Jim Dolan.
Do you think these guys wouldn't come to the Jets, or just won't leave their current positions? It seems both have a lot of commitment to them by their orgs. btw, they would be my top 2 choices.
I'm not up to speed enough on all these guys to really single one out as a favorite of mine. My only criteria is whoever we hire has to be a guy with a proven resume of success,coming from an organiation where he has personally,or worked closely with someone who has built a winning organiation. I not only want a change of results on the field, but also a total shift in this organiation to change the preception of this team to a well respected franchise. Unfortunatly I don't see us doing that with Rex at the helm but i'm hoping i'm wrong.
DeCosta has the job locked up in Baltimore. Ozzie is a great GM but he will be moved upwards in the organization as soon as the Ravens win a Super Bowl or the Ray Lewis window ends, whichever comes first. The Ravens are already paying DeCosta like a GM. Dorsey played for the Packers, scouted for the Packers, runs personnel for the Packers. He's a Packer for life. There's no way he's leaving that to take a job in the big city in probably the worst circumstances possible. Really, there's no way he's leaving even for a good job. The job he wants is GM of the Packers. That's probably the job he'll get in a few years. He's lived in the area for 24 years now and raised his family there. He has two little kids he wants to raise there also. Finally, he did leave for a year with Paul Holmgren and went to Seattle. He was there for one year and came home again. He's already had to "move for a better job" experience and he came home after giving it a shot.
