What do you guys think about this game? My feeling is New England should get walloped. There is a high percent chance that one or all of there passing weapons will go down: Amendola, Edleman and Brady. Am I high on GPC or is this shit the end for them... :gpc:
I can't figure out what the best scenario is. I want Miami to miss the playoffs. I guess New England losing to Baltimore, then winning next week? These are my two least favorite teams. I don't think we are quite at GPC yet. They have had a lot of injuries, so they could be better next year.
Depends on your definition of the word "collapse." I don't see them going very far in the playoffs but a lot of teams would gladly take 10-6 (if they lose out) and would be ecstatic about 12-4 (if they win out). However this season turns out, they should be as good or better in 2014. They'll lose some other players to injury and free agency along the way (every team does) but will get Wilfork, Tommy Kelly, Mayo, Gronk, etc back. And the guys who are starting now, particularly on the D-line, will be backups next year, but they'll be backups with starting experience, providing good depth. Offensively, the young WRs (Boyce, Dobson, Thompkins) should all improve. Edelman will be a free agent but I don't know how many teams will have interest. He's kind of a product of Brady and the system they run. GPC is coming, eventually... I've been a football fan since the late 70s so I remember very well the days when the Pats were among the NFL's worst teams year after year. Brady and Belichick won't be around forever. But they probably have a few years left.
Just going back to this game for min.. What is your outlook for the game? I'm not overly impressed by Ravens offense and I think the Pats D can have a decent game. I think the Pats O though is going to turn the ball over, which could set Pats D up in some rough situations. The Pats O looks exposed, bad (2 weapons Edelman & Amendola that's it right? Both injury prone). Do you think Edelman will have another game like Miami? How has the running game been the last couple of weeks?
Don't worry, Brady is probably okay. Amendola and Edelman seem to get banged up a lot, even when you have Gronk and others to mix it up with. I'm not expecting Edelman to catch 13passes this week and still have a head at the end of the game. It's highly likely one of these two receivers don't finish the game.
Predicting injuries now? Idk about that This will be a hard fought game. Baltimore was able to grind out a win over the Lions by the way of 6 FGs. IDK if they can win that way against the Pats who always find a way no matter who goes down. I'm picking Baltimore but this is a toss up
They have 2 viable weapons, that's it. Have they been running the football at all? Ravens Offense doesn't impress, but the 6 FG's did come on the road. Not seeing Edelman catch 13passes this week. This one looks like it will get real ugly for New England. Interested to see what tricks 'lie' up BB's sleeve.
Edelman, Amendola, Vereen, Boyce (who might not play). When Brady's throwing, everyone is a weapon. The run game has been decent, when Ridley isn't fumbling... Not really seeing this one as ugly, this isn't the Ravens of old. Patriots 27-17.
I think it all depends on the Pats D. If they can get some takeaways than New England wins, and possibly Big. The one factor that really shines is this is a most win game for the Ravens, and it's in Baltimore.
I think it'll be a close one, but I'd give an edge to Baltimore at this point. They're playing very well, and traditionally Brady has not had his best games against the Ravens. Offensively, I think the Patriots will try to pound the run with Blount and Ridley. A lot of it will depend on what kind of looks they give Brady. Right now though, I think it would be in NE's best interests to try to shorten the game and limit Baltimore's number of possessions. Edelman and Amendola will run their usual quick crossing routes and slants and will pick up their share of catches, but hopefully the Patriots will have Dobson or Thompkins back so they can be a little more aggressive with the down-the-field stuff. There's no viable TE receiving threat on the roster without Gronk, but Hoo-man made a nice TD grab last week. Shane Vereen was playing well but Miami keyed on him and did a nice job of limiting his touches. I'd expect Baltimore to do the same. On the other side of the ball... whether they've had a good season or not, the Ravens' offense always seems to play well against the Patriots, as does Flacco. I think Talib can do a good job limiting Torey Smith but I'd expect big games from Pita, Brown, and Jacoby Jones. NE has taken a step back from the defense they were playing earlier in the year. Not as aggressive, more zone than man, etc. The coverage hasn't been quite as good and they're not taking the ball away with any regularity (which seems like a necessary part of their success... they don't force a lot of three-and-outs and typically give up a ton of yards). It looks and feels a lot like the leaky pass defenses they've had the past couple of seasons. I think it comes down one team playing their best ball of the season, while the other is struggling a little to re-assert some kind of identity without their best offensive weapon. If the game was in Foxboro I'd feel better about the Patriots' chances. But to give you an honest take, I'd say the Ravens win this one. Probably something like 24-17 or along those lines.
Think NBC isn't regretting flexing this game out of prime time for Bears-Eagles? Maybe a little I think. (I'm glad its at 4:25 personally, not a big fan of having to wait until Sunday night... for my team anyway.) Ravens gotta be a slight favorite at home. This will be a one possession win because that's what both of these teams play very week! The AFC playoffs are gonna be a giant crap-shoot this year. Every team has flaws
You do know Flacco is injured right, wore a brace in practice today and is having or has had an MRI on the knee that he was hit in on Monday night.
I am so pissed at Ravens this year. Pats will make the playoffs anyway. So I am rooting for Pats to win. I don't want to see Ravens in the playoffs. And yes, GPC is going to happen eventually. Brady is going to be what 37 or 38 next year? Age will catch up soon and they will fall to mediocrity.
Should be an entertaining game. My brain tells me the Ravens will win. My gut tells me that the Pats will find a way somehow to pull it out. Without Gronk, the Pats offense is anemic. The Ravens offense hasn't done much either this year. Should be a low score game. ~~~
