I had my money league draft with my friends and screwed up my draft terribly. I had a strategy in mind but thanks to a certain number of picks that didn't go my way, I ended up with my favorite RB group that I've ever had, but quite possibly the worst team I've ever had as well. My WRs ended up being: Calvin Johnson Roddy White Nate Burleson DeSean Jackson And to make matters worse, this is a 10 team league. If anyone can help me find some good deep WRs that may still be FAs who will see action and put up stats this year, it would be a great help.
Some of these guys are very deep sleepers, but a few of 'em appear on my fantasy teams. Laurent Robinson, ATL Eddie Royal, DEN Robert Meachem, NO Jabar Gaffney, NE Bryant Johnson, SF Josh Morgan, SF Jason Hill, SF Buster Davis, SD Sidney Rice, MIN I put three 49ers there. I think it is possible that two of those three guys are going to catch at least 60 passes in that offense. I could probably be of better help if you posted a list of the free agent WRs available in your league. I would think there would be a few better options than the fellows posted here.
also why dont you post your whole team overall? I think the best thing we can do to help, is as cakes said, see the FA wr list, and decide from there on...
My team: QB Brett Favre WR Calvin Johnson WR Roddy White WR Nate Burleson RB Joseph Addai RB Frank Gore TE Chris Cooley K Mason Crosby D New York Jets B Laurence Maroney B Michael turner B DeAngelo Williams B Felix Jones B DeSean Jackson B Robert Meachem B Kevin Walter Almost all of the guys you listed are on the available FA pool. 10 team league.
Bryant Johnson is a receiver for a very pass happy offensive coordinator. The rest of his team stinks, but who knows what Martz pulls off there. I also like Meachem. Currently #3 in a very prolific offense. He can easily elevate to #2 due to injury or just his play.
Don't sleep on Jason Hill and Josh Morgan. Remember Mike Furrey. The dude was a starting safety in 2005 in St. Louis. He led the team in interceptions, in fact. The following year he led the NFC in receptions for the Lions. The Mike Martz system causes interesting things to happen.
dude your not f'ed, just take either Deangelo (who has had a great preseason and will get a good amount of carries) or L-MO and pair them with Roddy WHhte and go get yourself an upgrade at WR or deal one of them alone for a good WR.
Trade at least one of your RBs for a WR. My #1 Sleeper this year is Eddie Royal, i picked him off the wire in all my teams now.
yeah like guys said, you may have a great group of RB's only two will play at a time, and you could package, one or both Maroney and Williams, and grab a solid WR from a guy desperate for RBs. Plus you would still have Michael Turner, and a sleeper in Felix Jones...
DeSean Jackson may be the best rookie in this year's class. Burleson will be solid and Calvin Johnson is in his second year and he should star. Don't know why you are bitching. Not everybody can get Randy Moss and Owens.
I would also try to obtain a better defense in that trade but WR should be the priority for your team. You have too much RB talent wasting away on your bench.
In one of my leagues I have made 8 moves already. 6 of them involved Jabar Gaffney. Currently, he is back on my team and is slated to start in Week 1 along with Jerricho Cotchery. Laveranues Coles, Brandon Marshall (suspended), and Robert Meachem are on my bench.
thoughts on this team 12 team league. Picking from the one spot. Drew Brees Jerricho Cotchery Donald Driver Joey Galloway LaDainian Tomlinson Brandon Jacobs Kellen Winslow Kenny Watson Brett Favre Vincent Jackson David Patten Tony Scheffler Andre Hall Leon Washington Eddie Royal James Jones Mason Crosby DEF San Diego
Good team overall, especially LT, Brees, Winslow, and San Diego. If Favre gets off to a strong start I would try to get a RB for him. I am not too high on Jacobs and you need more quality RB depth even if he looks ok. Also, if you get opportunities to trade quantity for quality (RBs, WRs, etc.) I think that could help your team as well.
