The season-ending injuries to jenks and leon underscore how important depth is in the nfl. I hope the jets start to realize this and start stockpiling draft picks in the future instead trading up. We have had some good trade-ups (Revis, Harris, etc.), but have already given away 2 picks next year for Edwards. I know... I know, we traded up for Greene and he looked great today. But at some point trading up can and will catch up to you on the depth chart. I hope we trade down at least once next year and stockpile for depth. I also would not be surprised if we moved a player for some pick(s).

True, but when we have traded up we have been very successful.

I agree with this idea. We need a draft like 2006.

A tough sell would to be trade Jenx for a 2nd and 4th. Coming off another ACL surgery and being over 30 it might be the right time to trade him. But the replacement must be there. Cody, Robinson, somebody has to be drafted.

Until you have good starters having depth is useless.

Now that we have good starters I think we will keep more picks to build up depth... in the future I mean.

for the 2010 draft it will really depend at what player is available when we pick. I would like to trade down a bit in rd 1 a get a 1 & 3 in return but we'll have to see... If a guy like Oher (looking at last years draft) falls to us in the 20s no f-way I want to trade the pick away.

i still don't understand this argument.... go get the guys you want in the draft and via trade (ala edwards/Jenks) then become the land of oppurtunity for the UDFA out there, and then there are always solid vets out there every year who can be brought on for the vet min who will not be making rookie mistakes in limited pt....

of course good young depth is good, but having the elite talent we have traded for is better especially when the further down the draft you get the more difficult it is to find those diamonds in the rough.....

would you rather have Kris Jenkins, Braylon Edwards, Darrelle Revis, David Harris, Dustin Keller, Mark Sanchez and Shonne Greene or some extra late round guys like Nate Garner and Titus Adams who for those who don't remember are two of our draft picks from the late rounds the last few years who i do not believe even made the 53 man roster...

I'm going with the above list...

I'd rather get a couple of blue chip studs and take my chances on UDFAs and FAs than stockpile a bunch of mid to late round picks.
