THREE MAIN GOALS OVER THE OFF-SEASON:

    [1] Improve running game
    [2] Improve our pass rushing
    [3] Get depth

    1. DRAFT

Round 1: Anthony Spencer | OLB | Purdue - An amazing pass rushing DE at Purdue, would be an absolutely perfect fit in our 3-4 as an outside linebacker. He is a superb pass rusher with a ton of strength, speed and agility, everything you would want in a 3-4 outside linebacker.

Round 2: Michael Bush | RB | Louisville - The Jets don't have a true #1 RB, Bush will be that in 2007/2008 or, at latest, 2008/2009. He is a powerful back that posses a lot of speed too. A double threat, the only cause for concern is his season ending 2006 injury.

Round 2: Arron Sears | OT | Tennessee - We really need to upgrade on our offensive line, and getting Sears would be a great upgrade from Anthony Clement or Adrian Jones at RT. He is a huge, relatively agile tackle and a great run-blocker. The future of our offensive line would be looking extremely bright after this pick.

Round 3: Paul Williams | WR | Fresno St. - Justin McCariens will most likely be gone by the start of the 2007 season, and the Jets could really use a tall, fast 3rd or 4th WR. at 6-2 he runs a 4.35 40-yard dash and he is a great leaper. He has the potential to be a 1st rounder, but never really got it going in college. Could be a huge steal in the 3rd round, and he would compete with Brad Smith for the 3rd WR spot.

Round 4: Baraka Atkins | DE | Miami (FL) - A big DE who would be ideal in the future starting as a 3-4 DE. He is strong and quick and best of all, large. He plays with great leverage and is NFL ready right out of college. Should fit perfectly in out system.

Round 6: Le'Ron McClain | FB | Alabama - He is the perfect FB for our system. He is a great run blocker and a great reciever out of the backfield, but is a little slow which is why his stock will fall. He doesn't have the speed to be a rusher in the NFL, more along the Lorenzo Neal mold at 6-1, 255. He fits perfectly in our system where he won't need to run the ball, but will be able to block the way for our RB's.

I have a feeling Nate Clements commands a significantly better contract.

LOL, well that's some good detail and good job in breaking down the salary cap. Some of you guys should probably be on the Jet's payroll. :drunk:

How much more? Dyson only makes like, what, 3 million a year? So I think Clements is not THAT much better of a CB, so 4.5 million sounds pretty reasonable to me...

You mean kind of like Dwayne Robertson, Kendrick Allen, Anthony Spencer and our MLB's?

You put a lot of effort in this. I like it. I rather have Michael Turner though as RB. I think you are the first person to mention Eric Steinbach at RG. Can you explain why and who is he. I also like your Paul Williams pick. I do think we need a fast tall receiver to catch those passes down the sideline that I have faith Chad will be able to make next year. I'll give you two thumb's up for this. How do you feel about the coaching staff. If we can get the Defensive Coordinator from oakland i'll do it.

Dyson was cut by a team (Seattle) that had just given him a big contract the year before.

Clements is considered an elite near-shutdown corner.

Ken Lucas got 36/6 and he's in the same ballpark as clements. who, being a couple years older than Lucas at the time, would probably see something like 23-25/4.

I am also a little bit iffy about Nate Clements. I don't know if he deserves the big bucks. He's good but I don't think he's at the Ty Law or Champ Bailey level and he might be asking for that type of money. Assante Samuel in the other hand..... But knowing that the patriots would do anything to not let him fall in our hands i doubt seeing this happen.

Fair enough argument. Do you like it better now? How is the rest of the off-season?

    Asante Samuel will either:
    1. Be re-signed by the Patriots or
    2. Ask for a HUGE amount of money because of his 10 interception season. I am not willing to offer like 8 million, or more a year, for a CB right now. I think if it is like 6 million or under, that is fine. But wants it reaches like 7 million, I wouldn't want to waste our money on it.

Samuel and Clements are both going to get paid big time. Lets get it out of our hands that we will get either one of them at a good deal....players like that come at a premium, which I'm sure Tangini won't like. BUT if we somehow get one of those guys, it would really be the start of a great off-season.

I also don't agree with Bush. He just reminds me too much as a slightly enhanced version of Brandon Jacobs, he simply runs to tall to be effective for a long period of time. I've never been fond off RB's with a high center of gravity, being that they tend to get injured more then a 5'9'' type guy. Guys like Adrian Peterson and Bush will always have injury concerns, and I want a guy who can go the distance like our last greatest back.

What have you seen that makes you like Spencer over Woodley, that certainly is a different pick at OLB....

Patrick Ramsey is gone, he is due a huge bonus in march (3 mil). All rumors have it that Hobson will be signed long term along with Cotch. Barton plays inside, and could be a cap casualty.

    Other than that, not bad.

I like Anthony Spencer but that is a pick we can get in the second round.

I want a stout D lineman and a great pass rusher for my first 2 picks. Any combo of:

    1. Lamarr Woodley/Demarcus Tyler/Amobi Okoye
    2A. Carriker/Anthony Spencer/ Victor Abiamiri

I would be very happy with.

We're not getting both Steinbach and Clements, they will each get double what you projected IMO. Not bad overall, and it includes no Asante Samuel, which is a good thing.

I dont agree. I think Steinbachs' off the field antics hurts his pay-roll. IMO. To risky....

i think we would be better off with okoye with our 1st pick. his upside is tremendous and the kid was born in 87. hes very young and a line with ellis robertson and okoye would look great to me

Okoye would be wonderful but he will be gone by the time our pick comes around. If I thought he would last until our pick, then you would definitely see him instead of Anthony Spencer, but unfortunately, he most likely won't last.
