For the last 2 weeks it seems that everyone has been delighting in dancing on the grave of the ghost of Jet collapses past. He goes by many names, but when translating from ancient Sumerian, it is best know to us as "Same Old Jets".

This demon is a master of the art of deception. He feeds on the high expectations of the poor, unfortunate Jet fans. SOJ finds the path of greatest disappointment before making his move. A loss to the Titans just isn't his style. He'd rather pass on that opportunity and let Thanksgiving dinner discussions proceed with talk of "running the table", "first round byes" and even "home field advantage throughout the playoffs." If you were listening closely between bites of candied yams, you might have heard SOJ stifling a giggle.

Once the feeding frenzy of delusion was at its peek, it was time for SOJ to show itself. And today was that day.

I know everyone has been wishing the beast away, but I am sorry to say....Same Old Jets lives!

Today should stand as a reminder for those of you with short memories, that an offseason of good moves can't erase a history of blunders. Mr. Favre....that Super Bowl ring and your long list of records are not a talisman that can protect you from the evil lurking in the Meadowlands. You left the Valhalla of Lambeau to enter the underworld. This isn't some Fairy Tale where the conquering hero emerges victorious. You are instead in a twisted nightmare where the demon, SOJ, always wins.

One day, the evil one may be vanquished and the Lombardi Trophy will be lifted high above the victorious Jets. However, it may be eons from now.

    Until then....

    Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
    Use all your well-learned pessimism
Or he?ll lay your green soul to waste

Today we killed our chances of a first round bye, and now have to fight just to maintain our division lead. This is the SOJ, because after 2 convincing road wins, we played like shit at home against a mediocre team. Good teams don't lose to the Broncos at home.

Good post DBJ. Yep, the ghost of SOJ lives as evidenced by the talks of Superbowl, playoffs, etc...

It's all perception. For some reason, people view that losing to a dangerous Broncos team (who by the way are leading their division) in the rain with poor conditions is suddenly the end of the world. Now if we lost to the friggin' Raiders again, that'd be another story.

Fortunately for me, I've never been the optimistic type, so this lost wasn't that big of a shocker. If you look at things face value, the Jets are still #1 in their division and deservingly so. Bring up the SOJ argument again if the Jets miss the playoffs (which is actually still a very possible scenario).

    Week 12, 2007: MIN 41 @ NYG 17

It happens. How they respond will tell more than today did.

Didn't eli throw like 4 picks in that game? One player had an off day there, our entire team was exposed today, not one player playing flat.

The steelers still have to play the Ravens and Titans on the road, as well as, host the cowboys next week. If they lose 2 of those games and the Jets win out (neither event is impossible) then the Jets get the 2 seed. Yes, we had a horrible day and played like shit but there's no reason to panic.

I find it highly unlikely that with the way the steelers are playing that they drop 2 of those games. And if the jets play like they did today down the stretch, they won't win out either. They should by all means win out, there isn't one team on the schedule that is better than them. But that is what we all said about the lowly broncos, and look what happened today.

"You left the Valhalla of Lambeau to enter the underworld."

    What's wrong with the underworld?

I'm with you, dude!!! If the Jets manage to lose the rest of this season's games, then maybe you can talk SOJ. Losing to a division leader like the Broncos was not the Same Old Jets.

The only thing this game proved is that the Jets are still capable of playing a stinker. Nothing shocking about that.

Exactly, if they go 8-8 or 9-7 its a SOJ season.... but this is one badly played game from the start... this is pathetic how everyone is acting.

I'd care a lot more if the Patriots won but they didn't thank God

Yes we sucked today on both sides except Keller, Jones and Revis and on the sidelines. Not time to fall on the sword. December is crunch time and better to lose today than when it really matters and we stayed par w/ NE & Buff.

You could say the Titans were exposed against us. Or maybe they just lost a game. The problem is deep down, it seems some of you really don't think this team is very good. You just come along for the ride until the first sign of trouble and then bail out. I choose to believe the team is better than they showed today, for now it was just a bad game.
