ESPN is wasting offseason time with a look at the most memorable plays in team's histories. With the Jets of course Richie Cimini is involved. They have identified a top three of: -Jumbo Elliott's Catch (or should I say "catches") in the Monday Night Miracle -Fake Spike (ugh) -"Butt-Fumble" (fart) I thought we could have a better discussion here. Those three are certainly memorable but there are other candidates that ESPN glossed over. Here are some I was thinking about in no particular order : -The Halfback Pass TD from Martin to Chrebet to win the "flashlight game" vs. Tampa and Keyshawn -The deep bomb from Vinny to Dedrick Ward in Buffalo 1998 that clinched our first division title since the AFL/NFL merger!! -Doug Brien's field goal(s) in Pittsburgh 2004 (or the dubious decision making beforehand) Certainly there are more suggestions you guys can throw out there. Especially you old timers there's gotta be a memorable play from the 68 SB run that myself and ESPN aren't including....
The last two plays probably take the cake for me.. It mean't nothing in terms of playoffs or anything like that, but holy shit that was insane. That stadium was half empty at that point, and it still got louder than any thing I have heard out of MetLife since.

Of recent memory, gotta be Sanchez to Holmes against NE. So huge against the most hated of rivals in the playoffs. Two other plays in one game, had it not been for the outcome, Santana Moss' 75 punt return and Reggie Tongue's 86 yard INT for a TD against Pittsburgh in the 2004-2005 AFC playoff game. I remember going crazy and kissing the TV lustily. _
as big as the Holmes play was(and it was huge), the play that I think was the biggest was the Cotchery catch and run setting up the Holmes TD.

It's like the 1986 Mets--everyone remembers the Buckner play but the passed ball right before that was the tying run and that was just as or more important. _
My memory has been erased of all football plays except Stephen Hill dropping that pass against New England. That play haunts me. I replay it in my mind over and over. Eyes on the ball Stephen, I mutter to myself all day as I toil at my meaningless occupation. Eyes on the ball. I see it in my sleep, replaying on an endless loop, a purgatory of never ending incompletions, a hellish nightmare of lost opportunity. Alshon would never have done this to me. Oh Hill why art thou such A BUST!!!
Sorry to say U all are way to young to remember that the MOST important play in NYJ history occurred in Dec 68 @ Shea Stadium when Oak attempted a lateral that we broke up & RECOVERED sealing the win over them that day & propelling us on to SB3. While a unusual play at the end of the day the Jumbo play meant nothing just like it means nothing to this date
Ugggh. I was there with about 15 Pats fans and I was getting ready to heap mounds of shit on them. And quite honestly, when we lost they gave me very little shit, were more perturbed that we had come as close as we did to beating them. That play sucked. _
Wasn't born yet obviously - but when watching America's Game with the NYJs - they go back and show how this transpired. Reading up on it when I first heard about - I would have killed someone that night. One of the more frustrating events in Jets history.

Yes, I would agree - but going back in history and hearing about that game is mildly frustrating. Plus I hated the Raiders from that era. Glad Don Maynard balled on those suckers a month later.
