    Moss checks in
Posted by John Tomase at 5:34 pm

Well what do you know ? Randy Moss is in town.

Head coach Bill Belichick sure made it sound like Moss wouldn?t be here for the offseason conditioning program, but defensive end Jarvis Green just revealed in an interview on ESPN 890 with the Herald?s Mike Felger that Moss was here yesterday.

?What a surprise,? Green said. ?Everyone heard that (he wasn?t coming), then the guy comes in on Wednesday. Just being here ? he doesn?t even have to work out ? says a lot about him. He?s not the guy everyone thinks he is. He?s coming to work. He just wants to be a Patriot, man.?

For years, Moss has trained on his own in Florida, rather than take part in offseason programs with the Vikings and Raiders, so his simple appearance is significant. He really didn?t have to report until June 5, when the team?s full-squad minicamp kicks off.

Baby steps indeed. I am not making any excuses for him this season, but he gets a clean slate to start. So far so good. I expect him not to work out in the long run, so if he does, then cool.

He shouldn't get praise for showing up either, it is just a good sign that he is doing what the majority of his teammates are doing. That's all.

    Go Pats!

I'm sure he is just excited to get to know the players. It was said that there was a lot of excitment/energy just having him in the locker room....

Hey, whatever gets the team pumped up - I'm all for it:up:

I don't get all the excitement with the Moss signing... stick a fork in him. Even if the Jets had a shot at him... I'd rather build with what we have than bringing that asshole onto the team.

You're only saying that because he isn't on the Jets.
It's been said numerous times by Pats fans - we didn't give up much to get him here. If he works out - then its a bonus - if he doesn't, oh well.
Obviously, the professional football players on our team are excited for him to be on the team. And if he is bringing excitement to them and getting them pumped up, then its all good - at least for now.

DW has hit it on the head, no big deal moreso a good gesture. It could work out and if it does the Jets are stupid for not making a move.

I'm really not scared or worried in the least bit though, the Pats were going to be good with or without Moss. I accept it all with open arms, the core roster of the SB days has a shelf life of 1 or 2 years. theyve done a pretty good job replacing them.

you wouldnt hear me complain much if the jets signed moss, but I seriously think he is an assclown. the only thing I do is sympathize that he was stuck on the Raiders. but someone whos sposed to be the top player in their position shouldnt give up and bitch, he should dominate. instead he became a primadona.

either way, moss is ancient. 3 years since hes even looked like Randy Moss. and now 10 years deep into the league. its not like they drafted him. this will be over with within 2 or 3 yrs.

but people would be stupid to deny this makes them significantly better, but, either way, the pats will be good. now its time for the jets to continue what they did last yr and prove that we can hang.

I can't speak for Green Dude, but there are a few of us that could care less about Moss and didn't want to make a run at him. Short term he's a problem for us, but in the longer haul I like him being on your team. :breakdance:

Well you obviously didn't read my post too clearly now did you? Sure... I think they were a little hard on him in his career with MIN... but the stunts he pulled toward the end of his time there and with the Raiders is inexcusable. I think the Pats would have been better off with Givens, but his price tag wouldn't allow it, where Seattle teeeerribly over paid for him.

Even with what they had prior to bringing Moss in. "Oh I'm in the best shape of my career and expect big things" Hmmm I think we heard that one many times before out of his mouth. Ask the Raiders and Min. Where did both teams go with Moss on the team? Backwards.

Like I said, bringing Moss into the Jets org. with the new disciplined manner we are building on, Moss would have been AIDS. Not cancer... but full fledged dirty needle/crack whore AIDS. At first look "Moss to the Pats" I was in shock, but if you dig into the whole situation, its quite laughable.

Oh, I read your post. And you're right, he probably wouldn't be the right player for the Jets. But I think there is a very good chance he works out for us - at least for this year. First of all - we traded Branch to Seattle, not Givens. Branch wanted too much money. Do I wish things would have worked out for us and him, sure I do. But they didn't and that is in the past.

We don't need Randy to be at the level he was 3 years ago. All we need is for other teams to have to account for him if he is on the field. We have plenty of other talent on offense - if he doesn't work out - oh well, we tried. I am not worried about him being a cancer in our locker room. Too many vets and too good a coaching staff - it won't happen - at least not now. What worries me is his history of taking plays off if he knows he's not involved. But our coaching staff will not let him get away with that. They will not let him be a hinderance to our team on the field. So really, what do we have to lose? He can be a great addition and help us win games, or can not play at all and we'll still win games.

I still think it was a bad move to bring him in and i hate the pats as much as most of the people here, but i?m already excited to see what Brady can do with "the new Moss" (still doubt that he will be that), Stallworth, Welker, Maroney and that same old good O-Line, but can?t it be on another Divison than ours?!?

This is news? Tell me when you know what hairstyle he's going to use to accent his sideline baby faces with this year and I'll pay attention.
