    3. The Jets will remind us why they don't belong in the playoffs: You have to love what the Jets have on defense, as that unit ranks first in the NFL in points allowed (14.8), total yards per game (252.3) and passing yards per game (153.7). What you can't like is how the Jets squirmed into the postseason after playing two teams (the Colts and Bengals) that didn't have much incentive during those contests. All we really know about the Jets is that they've benefited from fortuitous scheduling. Once they face a postseason team that takes the game seriously -- and can exploit a feeble offense led by struggling rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez -- the truth will be known: The Jets never should've been here in the first place.

    4. The Bengals will play better once the postseason begins: There are plenty of reasons to be down on Cincinnati, especially because it has lost three of its past four games. But let's also not forget the emotional trauma that came from the death of receiver Chris Henry. The Bengals also gave away one of those games (to the Jets) while losing the other two on the road to fellow playoff teams (Minnesota and San Diego). These are still the same Bengals who went undefeated in the AFC North. Cincinnati also has the kind of makeup -- strong running game, tough defense -- that generally leads to success in January. The Bengals might not seem pretty at this stage. But they also have a great shot of reaching the divisional playoff round (they face the Jets in the wild-card round), which means anything is possible after that.

    LOL!

This guy says the Bengals have a makeup that leads to success in January --strong running game, tough defense - -

HELLO! You know who is better in both areas? The Jets! He didn't even mention Carson Palmer. In any argument to think the Bengals will win it has to be Carson Palmer and this guy didn't even mention the one big advantage they have. These writers are so clueless.

Before last week I just wanted to get in but now I desperately want to beat the Bengals again so no one can say we didn't deserve to make it.

As a displaced Jets fan I see Jets hate all the time. I'll be talking to a (insert random team that plays Jets once every 3-4 years) fan and the Jets come up in conversation and its as if they tasted something bad. I'm convinced the trash talk from ole' Rex and Scott really got under some skin.

I wonder what people will be saying if the Jets dominate the Bengals again this week?

Of all the teams in the AFC that didn't make the play-offs, which one of them deserved to make the play-offs more than the Jets? No-one. Hence, they're all talking out of their asses.

They'll probably say that we'll get obliterated by the next team.

When the Jets beat the Bengals, it'll be... Oh, the loss of Henry was too much for this poor team emotionally. So much that they can't even beat the lowly Jets... poor Bengals... The Jets don't deserve this wildcard win.

Then when the Jets Beat San Diego... they'll say... oh, the off week killed the momentum for the Bolts... if they didn't have to sit a week and wait, they would've destroyed the lowly Jets.. The Jets don't deserve to go the the AFC championship game.

Then when they beat the colts, they'll say... the colts let go of the gas pedal when they decided to sit the starters during week 16. This isn't the same team that went 14-0... they are out of rhythm, not because the lowly Jets are good, but because the Colts lost that killer instinct by resting the starters. The Jets don't deserve to go to the Superbowl

Then when they win the SUPERBOWL... they will ride Rex's jock like a bunch of cowboys, and claim this team of underdogs fought hard and deserved every win they got in the postseason....

    F them...

Let's be realistic here: the Bengals should beat the Jets next Saturday.

They have by far the better QB, a good running game and a good defense, and they're playing at home in front of a playoff starved crowd. That said, the main thing going against them is they're the Bungles and they are one of the few organizations in the NFL that are demonstrably worse than the Jets over the last generation.

People picking the Bengals to beat the Jets are basically counting on Carson Palmer to do positive things and Mark Sanchez to do negative things. That's a very reasonable assumption. They should be weighing the dueling curses instead. One of these teams is going out Saturday night with a nasty sinking feeling that the curse lives on. My money is on Marvin Lewis and the Bengals being the team that goes home for the year, but that's only because I think the Bengal curse is deeper than the Jet's curse. And I really hope that if that happens we draw San Diego, another historically cursed team, in the division round.

Aside from beating Baltimore at home in week 9 Cinci hasn't done anything impressive in the second half of the season. While I agree they clearly have the better QB at this point, he was unable to accomplish anything against the Jets D last week. He looked awful. Granted, it should be easier for him at home, but I don't see how he's going to suddenly look like a pro-bowl QB against the Jets D. I don't want to hear about them "not trying" either. If they weren't trying then why was Carson Palmer chasing down Lowery for the tackle after the first half INT when the Jets were already clearly in control?

The Jets completely dominated the Bengals starters last week. I don't know why we should expect a complete 180 here ...

Shit if the Bengals had no interest in winning that game why was Carson Palmer playing in the second half? I don't wanna hear that the Jets were handed that game, they fuckin took it...

Should be a good game as long as Sanchez doesn't throw interceptions. The Jets typically don't lose if Sanchez protects the ball.

Jets are undefeated when Sanchez attempts 20 or less passes, and I believe they are 7-2 when Sanchez has 1 TO or less

Keep the TOs down and play solid D and we can win this game, but we HAVE to stop the run once again, can't allow big plays in the running game

The Jets deserve to be in the playoffs in a reality in which everybody else who had to lose did so. It's all contextual. The better way to phrase it is that the Jets deserve to be in the playoffs more than everybody else who missed.

Here's the list, and I'm not including any team that finished below .500 for obvious reasons:

Houston (9-7) - Jets beat them head to head. No question here.

Pittsburgh (9-7) - Lost to KC, Oak and Cle. That's not a playoff team.

Tennessee (8-8) - Jets beat them head to head. No question here.

Denver (8-8) - Had 2 losing streaks of at least 4 games. That's not a playoff team.

The Jets clearly deserve to be in the playoffs over those 4 teams. If you want to make the case that this is a parity year and that the Jets are just the best of a bunch of mediocre contenders then I'm ok with that, but that still makes them a legitimate playoff team.

Sanders said that the Bengals over the Jets was his wildcard lock of the week.

Of course I also just watched the 30 on 30 special about the Miami Hurricanes 80's. I believe Sanders was pretty confident about his Seminoles beating the Hurricanes...that didnt work out too well for him either.
