Try to be as open minded as possible here folks. It's ANYONE'S title yet :jets: ps. Don't we win the tie-breaker right now for division lead? NFL.com doesn't have us at #1 (I know it's no biggie but it just feels nice seeing that haha) BTW, just for shits and giggles I'm going to predict the records for the 2nd half also. Jets- 10-6 Dolphins- 9-7 Patriots 9-7 Bills 8-8
I voted for our team. I think if the blowout the Rams and so that they can sit the starters late in the game for extra rest and then play the Pats, they can beat the Pats in Foxboro like in 06. Then 10 days to prepare for the Titans.... Trap game for them? hmmmm. In the next three games the Jets should be 2-1 at the very best. 7-4 is a great place to be post Titans. But this play has to be consistent. One step back and they'll be fucked.
Dolphins host the Seahawks, Raiders, Patriots, and then travel to play the Rams. I can easily see a 3-1 record in that stretch. But. w/e all four teams have a ton of what you would call "easy" games left on their schedule. I.E Rams, 49ers, KC. The Division games are always important, but more so this season than any other. Whoever dominates the rest of the division games from here on out gets in imo
And the Fins and Jets are both at 2-1 in the division. Imagine the Bills and Pats in the lower half at the end of the season?
Yep... the 'phins have a schedule that plays to what few strengths they have... they are through with their most difficult part of their season. At the very least, this will be a very entertaining second half of the season, something the league desperately needs.
Is anyone else really glad that we're back to being one of the toughest divisions in football? We were so tough, and so hard fought for so many years, and then we kind of shit the bed for a stretch of a few years, with the Pats being the only consistently tough team.... Nice to have a nice competitive, exciting division
I have a lot of respect for the Dolphins as to how they have came back. But for a late score for the Texans they could be sitting 5-3 just now. I'm pleased for Chad, I knew he would play well for them. I can see our game at home to the Fins in December being huge.
agree - i still think the pats are the team to beat and until someone beats them in their house to leapfrog them in the standings - they are in the drivers seat. jil
Two teams I don't want the Jets to have to play again--NE and SD. If we can beat NE, then, we look like maybe we're for real. Still, no way I think it will be easy. For now, I have to go with NE in the AFCE. As an aside, I have little fear of the phins, at least this year. We match up with them very favorably and I fully expect 2-0.
Homer vote from me... go JETS!!!! I think we have a shot at it. If our defense can keep delivering games like the one yesterday, and our offense finds its rhythm for more than one drive a game I think we can make a strong push over the next few games. The truth is it will be a dog fight and can be anybody's at this point though. Everyone is in the mix.
I wouldn't say toughest division in football, but the competition in our division is leveled pretty evenly at this point. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd toughest division. NFC East being the toughest, and maybe the AFC South after that.
After the last few seasons, I'm happy with competitive, even if the wheels had to come off the Pat's bus for a season.
I voted New England. They are the only team in the East that holds an advantage on us right now, and if we're going to overcome them, which we haven't yet since Belliblowhard took over, it has to happen in two weeks. I'm not sure the Jets can pull off that upset and then capitalize by staying ahead of the Patsies... but I'd be thrilled if we did. So yeah, right now my vote goes to New England. If we beat them in two weeks... then restart this poll, and I'll change my vote.
Let's look at who plays who down the stretch and where. I'm going to weight games as win, lose or draw for each team and see where I think everybody winds up based on that. New England Wins - @Seattle, @Oakland Draws - Buffalo, Jets, @Miami, Pittsburgh, Arizona, @Buffalo Losses - None Final record 10-6 Buffalo Wins - Cleveland, @Kansas City, San Francisco Draws - New England, Miami, @Jets, @Denver, @New England Losses - None Final Record 10-6/11-5 Jets Wins - St Louis, Denver, @San Francisco, @Seattle Draws - @New England, Buffalo, Miami Losses - @Tennessee Final record 10-6/11-5 Miami Wins - Seattle, Oakland, @St Louis, San Francisco, @Kansas City Draws - New England, @Buffalo, @Jets Losses - None Final record 10-6/11-5 Is this a crazy season or what? A couple of notes in the predictions: 1. I'm being a bit optimistic for the Jets in making the Denver game in the Meadowlands a win instead of a draw. The Broncos have lost 3 straight and despite them having the perfect defense to pick Brett 4 times and make the Jets miserable I think the Jets are going to be favored heavily going into the game. 2. The big difference between this year and every other year recently is that the Patriots are Draws for all of the AFC East games. That's what losing Tom Brady does to you. Otherwise we're looking at 12 wins for the Pats again and everybody else fighting for 9-7 and the wildcard chance at maybe 10-6. 3. It is mathematically possible for the 3rd and 4th place teams in the AFC East to finish 10-6 and out of the playoff hunt. I believe that would be the first time that two teams in the same division won 10 games and were elminated from playoff contention since the merger. 4. Crazy as it sounds the Dolphins may well go into the final 4 games of the season favored to win the division. They have 3 pushover games in the next 4 which if they won all 3 would put them at 7-5. They then have 2 patsies in the final 4 games and their fate fully in their hands with the Bills and Jets as the other 2 games. One note would be that Bill Parcells teams often dramatically overachieve in the first season that he is in the building but fall just short of their playoff goal. My gut tells me that the Dolphins will finish 9-7, making Parcells the architect of 2 1-15 to 9-7 turnarounds in his career. The man is the definition of Hall of Fame.
its hard to do but i gotta say until we beat the pats on the thursday nite game its the pats who win this division. im not passing them off just yet. lets wait until after that thursday nite game and then have a vote.
